Xbox One detailed network statistics VS. speed test

Turns out my HDMI cable is a lot longer than my ethernet cable. It solved everything, no surprises. But it sure is inconvenient since my Xbox takes a lot of space on my desk. I'll get a longer cable nonetheless.

Still, the fact that wireless is way less effective (and not just less) than ethernet is a bit frustrating. I have tried disabling then enabling "allow to play streaming" but it didn't fixed the issue. I have not tried the factory reset yet. And concerning
my router, it does not give me the choice between 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz.

So, if a factory reset does not solve the issue of "slow and bad" wireless connection, I really don't know what more can be done.

Moral of the story, by a LONG ethernet cable and be sure your router is close enough to your Xbox.

Another thing you have to remember is this.

When you go on a site like speedtest.net or speedof.me it looks for the closest server to you (some of them have it where you can change what server it is testing from)

Where when you do detailed network statistics speedtest on your Xbox it defaults to servers at MS HQ in Redmond WA USA so depending on how close you are to there and other traffic going in and out of their servers it may be slower.

For my computer I use the speed test of my internet supplier (which is virgin mobile). But I did not know about the detailed network statistics. I live on the east coast, so I guess you could say I'm pretty far from MS HQ.

Still, I'm out of options... my internet is fine, my xbox do not seem to be. Does a factory reset could help?

Of course first thing (If possible) would be to test a wired connection to see if this has any difference from the wireless connection. This should give you a stronger connection as you will be connected directly via ethernet cord.

Alternatively you can always attempt to Port Forward your Xbox One. Take a look at the following support article for information on setting up your Ports.

So, as I said, I am a noob in this domain. I do not know what is Port Forwarding and how to do it (I did read the articles, but I am not familiar with any of this).

Then I am back to square one.
