Xbox ONE deliivered!...Few questions before hook up/

If you hook your cable box thru the X1 you should calibrate your tv for the X1...there is an actual tutorial under the settings on the X1 that will help you calibrate your tv for the best picture...the picture quality looked terrible while watching cable
tv on the ONE...everything was bit darker and nothing looked real crisp or birhgt from the settings i had for my TV before i got the X1....the X1 will throw your picture quality off a bit so make sure you calibrate it.

As far as drivatars go, when doing career races, people from your friends list as well as other Forza players will show up in your races. I think there is an option somewhere to turn it off but not sure. They just automatically show up so no need to fiddle
with any settings to get them there

I am starting to see them...plus, I think they were talking about the match races where you could have your drivatar run a race..wort of like what Forza 3 did...

Do me a favor if you don't mind....next time you play forza....say "xbox help"..wait for the menu guide to appear and let me know how to activate it.....

I think that is supposed to be the Forza manual if you say help in game......for the life of me, I can't tell what to do next...theer are 4 sections and I can't activate any of them...

Unbox. Plug in. Plug cable box into X1. Power up. 5-10 minutes for initial install. Good to go!

Mine showed up 3 days after a blizzard..... -30c........ I let it sit for an hour before firing it up.... works great!

 

well, day 2..all is good.....

I got the help menu in forza to start working....but I do have a major concern...

It occurred to me...that in order for the DVR to work, the XBOX has to be on......so my thoughts are, taht if you are away from home and want to record using the DVR app...there is no way to turn on the DVR through xbox...

I am sure you can turn on and record while the XB1 is off.. the pass through is for display only and you do not need that to record internally...as long as your DVR cable box is ON...it will record... as its input in unaffected by the pass through...

 

Yep, recording remotely via the internet works just fine. No need for the One to be "On." I have a Genie Box on DirecTV and the SAT box does not need to be "On."

well guys.....Day two and I finally getting used to the ONE...

I like the little things...and last night I was making phone calls for work from my desk and PC...and the TV was on a loud commercial....I go "XBOX MUTE"...and the TV goes silent...

THAT is when I fell in love with voice commands, LOL......Can't wait to see the next update from MS that allows the Kinect to "learn" your voice.....

The only other issue I am having is the ONE does not shut down with the 6 hour or 1 hour timer..unless my deifinition of "inactivity" is different than MS's......When I use the sleep timer on TV, I would love the ONE to shut down too......has anyone tried
it?

 

I think it's about Kinect sensing movement. I've noticed that when the Xbox dims the screen after no activity, if I walk in front of the Kinect so that it recognizes me (I think it's not just about movement, but probably having the facial recognition like
it uses for sign in) it "undims" the screen. I suppose this is why it won't turn off for you even if you havn't used it, cos Kinect figured you might've wanted to do something with it

I typically just turn it off with controller or voice if I doubt I'm gonna use it the next hour. It boots up so quick that it makes little to no difference anyways

 

if you have pets... or something the XB1 senses as a guest... it will not shut down.. I had that problem for a few days... I had a vacuum standing in the corner with my sweatshirt over it.... and it thought it was a guest... was too funny... but yeah..
I have that problem also...

 

I'm actually sleeping when it doesn't shut off.....I set the TV for an hour and the ONE the same...TV is off in the morning, ONE is still on......so unless I am sleepwalking, got no clue what it thinks is activity, LOL...
