Xbox ONE deliivered!...Few questions before hook up/

well...I am on....

Controller works fine....picture looks good through pass hrough...no grinding with the disc..

So THANX everyone for your help....

couple questions.....how do I set up the feature to turn the TV on?

Sometimes the help screen comes up on TV..how do I get rid of that without hitting B button?

Also, is there any way to just scroll through channels...or do you have to say CBS for example?

No signal from HDMI - handshake broken

one question when you had the xbox hook up before and it was working fine how did you have the power supply hooked up? meaning did you have bothe tv and console plugged in a power strip or directly into a receptical ?

 

Xbox One and TV

I just received my Xbox One today and have a couple questions before unboxing and setting it up. First , how long is the hdmi cable ? Second , once I hook up my xbox one to the tv does the xbox one always have to be on even when I'm not watching tv ? Thanks

 

the Dpad is an up and down....or so I heard today but have to try.... I still prefer my OEM remote for my cable box...and only use the voice on certain occasions... until they fix it to XBOX GO TO CHANNEL 36 instead of the now required Xbox watch espn sports
channel HD.. I will stick to my trustl old remote with tape holding the batteries in...

Go to Settings (press the menu button on the controller (lower right of the xbox-button) to get a menu where you can find it), then "TV and OneGuide Settings" then "Devices" and it guides you through the process.



After you set up your TV model etc so it knows what it's dealing with, there's "Power settings" in the "TV and OneGuide settings" submenu where you can select that "Xbox on turns on/off my TV" etc.

yeah, I think the old remote is gonna be quicker, LOL

 

all depends.... if I am at my PC or what ever.... Xbox watch ESPN... or just say Xbox select... and it will list the last 10 channels you watched...

Huh? I find that odd, I am able to record using my voice with my Homeworx pvr OTA box. I wonder why that is?

TBH I only tried a few times... not sure what the actual command should be..... ut I do know on my remote to start a DVR record.. it is a 4 button press process.. click record.. click time start... click how long to keep then confirm... maybe that is
the reason why...

well, I am loving it...a little disappointing in the TV action..but that will get better with software....but REALLY impressed with the controller and how fluid Forza feels....

Also, I really like the ability to watch TV and then go right to gaming......That is pretty cool.....almost makes we wish MS hadn't reversed policy's so I don't have to load a disc...

With that being said...anyone have Forza?.....I read with the Drivatars, you could set it to different races...or race your friends....I see that nowhere in the menus...

and second...when I say XBOX help on the game....I have no clue how to activate the sections in the help menu...

For voice commands the phrase "Xbox select" is your friend...then just say anything in green text. This also really helps with learning the correct commands, as frustration can be avoided by saying something you think is correct and not having anything happen
only to discover it was the user that was wrong. Go through all of the setup screens and help videos also, they are mostly ho hum but each brings it's own useful piece to the puzzle. Don't be shy about using voice commands they make some things especially
relating to party chat and navigation much simpler than using your controller. For your TV question SmartGlass might be a better option or using the oneguide (x on controller from home screen and some others I believe) will give you more channel control options
also. Enjoy, this box is amazing, can only imagine what will be possible in the coming years.

As far as drivatars go, when doing career races, people from your friends list as well as other Forza players will show up in your races. I think there is an option somewhere to turn it off but not sure. They just automatically show up so no need to fiddle
with any settings to get them there
