Xbox one Default headset problems

Just a few days ago my xbox one mic that came with the system was working perfectly. Then when I get on to join my friends party I can hear him speak. But when I try to say something back he cant hear me. I tried turning off my xbox and unplugging it but
that didn't work. I don't know what the problem is.

What's a good yet not horribly expensive headset for the Xbox?

The default stereo headset is pretty good IMO.

Comfortable, cheap, decently built. It's stereo but it should work with windows sonic as well which helps with audio quality.

 

Best Quality Headset?

After buying the default Xbox One headset three times over, and each one breaking overtime, I'm ready to buy a quality one that will last me a few years. I'm considering the HyperX Gears 4 headset, but I'm open to suggestions. I want excellent quality audio that comes through the headset.

If you can hear people through your mic but they aren't hearing you, it's normally because the controller with the mic plugged in doesn't know which profile is using it.

Try one of these two suggestions:

• Position yourself so kinect can see your face and the controller in your hands.
  
• Go to the home screen and select your little profile icon on the top left next to notifications. Then select Choose this person on your profile.
  

After you have tried that, set up a party and see if it works.

Well I tried it and it still doesn't work. Is it because of the xbox one preview thing?

 

Does it occur when one or more people in the party are playing destiny?

 

Yes my friends plays destiny but I don't

 

Can you try starting up a party with just yourself in without any games loaded up. Then when you speak, see if the green circle next to your name in the party lights up.

 

I tried this as well but it still didn't work.

 

Just out of interest, does kinect work as a microphone? (Make sure its enabled in settings).

A few other things to try:

• Update your controller to see if that helps.

• 1. Go into Settings > Devices & accessories.
     
  2. Select the controller and choose update.

• Try a power cycle.
  
  1. While the console is on, press and hold the console’s Xbox button for 5 seconds.
     
  2. The console will power down.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn your console back on by again pressing the Xbox button.
     

If the kinect works but not the headset then I'd suggest replacing the headset if you've had no luck with the above suggestions.
