XBOX One Day One Edition

I am having an issue with the Day One Edition XBOX One in that it is no longer reading any discs.

I have spoken to support and advised that I have done the hard reboot which fixed the error for less than 48 hours to be told i have to pay £84.00 to have this fixed.

The issue I have is that i purchased the XBOX on pre order for release day at well over £400 and they are now available for £200 but i have to pay £84.00 to repair an issue that was fixed free of charge as it was a known error on release, also i have read
on the forums that people were provided with a dlc game for the inconvenience.

How is this now fair?

I spoke to a gentleman named Amiel on Chat Support and when i advised that i would like to know how to complain he decided to ignore me and stop chatting, fortunately i opened up a new chat with a lady named Linzi who helped me get here and added notes to
my file for reference.

Can someone please get back to me and advise what options if any i have?

We are having the same issue with our Xbox one. Since we are out of warranty we were told we would have to send it in and pay for the repairs.

 

If anyone is surprised at this they are really naïve. Once your warranty expires Microsoft is like any other company, they have your money and they don't care that is unless you're willing to pay them more money.

Notice how even at this moment I can't sign into games because core services Xbox Live is down even though I have paid my subscription, but I can sign into the website to purchase games and give them more money. Will I get any compensation for lack of services?
NO. But they're ok they already have my money.

I too have this issue...sucks we are stuck with this issue as early adopters. But in the meantime, I found 2 workarounds that make my console read the disc:

1) Lift the console slightly as the disc is going in.

OR

2) As the drive is pulling the disc in, hold on to the disc for an extra second. It seems to make the drive actually acknowledge that there is a disc and then read it.
