Xbox one Day one Edition can't connect to DHCP.

Alright, here's there issue, I've got a Day One edition Xbox One that "Can't connect to your DHCP server" on a wired connection.

No matter of unplugging, replugging or power cycling gets the console out of this rut.

The console won't register an IPV4 address, and the subnet default to 255.255.0.0 every time..

Wireless connections are shotty at best, sometimes the adapter won't retrieve any Wi-Fi signals at all- sometimes I log in, immediately.

And here's the real kicker- I have two other Xbox One consoles, both day one editions, with no problems.

Should I assign them all static IP's? I have a pretty vast home network..

    :)

  2. Won't connect with Ethernet cable

Update: Rebooted everything and now Xbox One X reads wired connection but can't connect. Runs me through restarting modem, router and Xbox, then can't determine DHCP. I've confirmed DHCP is on, even set static IP address. Still nothing!

Ready to return via Amazon unless can figure out why it's not working.

I can't connect through my wired ethernet port and getting a DHCP error message. I can connect fine through the same ethernet cord on my laptop but not my Xbox One.

Xbox one Day one Edition can't connect to DHCP.

The subnet defaults to 255.255.0.0 with a corresponding address of range 169.254.0.1 - 169.254.255.254, which is a self-assigned/link local address. When a networking device sends out a broadcast for a DHCP server on the same network, and doesn't get a respons
from a DHCP server, it falls back to the link-local, or self-assigned, address, which it can use to communicate with other IP speaking devices on the same link-local scope.

I can't tell if you have already tried to connect one of your other xboxes with the same cable that you use for your failing Xbox console.

Is the failing console connected the same way as for your other consoles (directly wired to the router?)?

The other consoles have only been connected wirelessly, most of the time, I've wired one of them in for a faster download speed and had no problems.

In addition, I just swapped the CAT5 in my failing console, to no resolve. Wireless connections have been fantastic lately, but I want my console wired, obviously.

I've factory reset my Gateway, and Xbox now- I still cannot connect to the DHCP server with a wired connection.

I'm resolving an IPv4 address of: 192.254.180.60, with the respective subnet.

The Gateway is not resolving, and the DNS is both issuing Wired MAC address, and Wireless MAC address.

    "You're connected using IPv4......"

I ran the "Check NAT" and it failed to return a Toredo address, now I've disable my IPv6 Firewall entirely, and power cycled everything, and I'm online.

I'm not sure why this resolved my problem, I have a fleet of ports forwarded from dealing with this over time, I suppose it just wasn't enough. I'll post again if I run in to more problems.

    Dchp error

taidara, yes. I use DHCP reservation for the Xbox One, and the problem persists. Generally, but not always on the first try or without restart, the Xbox One can get a DHCP IP when wired or wireless 2.4Ghz. It worked for a long time on wireless 5.8Ghz (my
preference), but now it consistently reports "Can't connect to DHCP server" and gives the same error even when manually assigning an IP in Advanced Settings (even though DHCP should not matter when manually assigning). There is definitely something weird
going on in the Xbox One network settings.
