    Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

Voice messages is cool. Txting is so old school. Only a small fraction of everyone who plays on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 contribute on the official feedback site and on forums on this site, so you're not getting the input of the others. In business, all customers
matter, so surely 6.5k+ customers matter. I'm sure Microsoft knows about it, they're just figuring out how to implement it and are busy. Obscure? The official feedback site is run by Microsoft. It makes the Xbox 1 kind of ancient how Xbox 360 can send messages
over Xbox Live in more ways than what Xbox 1 can.

Rippen, I'm sorry you haven't had a good experience with Voice Messaging. I have a full 360 friends list and have socialized with many on Xbox Live. In my experience, I've only had very few messages which have "screaming" or vulgar or intolerably bad/loud
music in it. The majority of them are friendly and you get a sense of what the person is like. Sure there's some hyper, music, invite or love messages. Xbox Live is applauded for the Features it offers. If the sender is annoying, you can block them. I'm fortunate
to be able to have enough free time to go on my consoles every day. Believe me, I sometimes get annoyed when I check a message on SmartGlass and can't view it because it's voice and can't open it til I get home. Some of my friends who know when I'm on my Xbox
1 send me a voice message I have to remind some of them "txt plz". There are people who like it and people who don't. Sometimes it cheers me up when I get to chat and exchange voice messages. I play a lot of COD BO2 Zombies and have only scratched COD AW zombies
DLC. I find COD BO2 Multiplayer far more worse.

And for this very reason is why i dislike it it. Should be as simple as me selecting "Do not allow voice message" then when someone tries to send me one

    1. the option to send it is greyed out or

    2. there is no option.

Unless i can hear those messages on Smartglass or Xbox.com its a hinderance.

I wouldn't be too into this dashboard as MS often do dashboard updates to their consoles. The 360 went through many, so I'm pretty sure they'll do a lot of updating to the Xbox One version. It just makes sense.

  5. Boooooooo! for the One designs. Requesting the app so the One looks functions and acts exactly like the tried and true trustworthy 360. I miss the 360, the golden days of gaming are coming to an end, they've ruined the One over and over again. Let me
count the ways the 360 was better in every single category.......

  6. Well I miss the thousand cool backgrounds I picked up for the 360 since year 1. I miss the easy group messaging features. It's absolutely annoying to not be able to deny friend requests and have all these stalkers, um, I meant, followers? Xbox One, where
    stalking is made easy.

Yay lets revive old threads. I prefer Xbox 360's UI. Much more faster. Less squares. Less boxes. Social section of UI on Xbox 360 shows your avatar and ALL of your friends avatars. Friend requests accept decline system asks permission. There's none of this
stalking and following nonsense. I see a huge amount of people on XB1 with disproportionate number of friends. For instance, 1004 Friends, 73 followers. That means they have 73 people who have this person on their friends list, and that the person is stalking
the difference. Can't play music in the background while gaming. XB1's UI is stored online, not like with 360's UI which is stored on your console. That could explain why it's slower and achievement notifications are at least 2x slower at popping up than on
    360. However turn off the internet for XB1, and the XB1 is FORCED to use the UI the console has. Not to mention Xbox 360 has weaker hardware yet a more responsive UI than XB1. I expect the UI on XB1 to function much more fluid given that it's suppose to be
better hardware. Just goes to show the amount of bloat they add to the XB1 software, and they update the thing every month. I rate Xbox 360's UI 8/10 and XB1's 5/10 (still a pass).

    Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

The 360 dash is terribly slow compared to the xbox one dash.

Everything on the xbox one dash is much faster than it was on the 360.

What stalking? You are told when someone follows you,if you don't want them on your followers list just block them.Simple as that.

Anyway, you will all be getting a new dash/home soon so you can all moan about that.

The new dash makes things even faster.

Not really, there has to be some sort of standard, think about this situation:

A mother calls Xbox Support because her son/daughter has done something to the Xbox and tit wont work.

The support worker tells her to go to XXXXX on her dashboard

The mother says that isn't there (because her son/daughter had removed it)

The support worker says go to XXXXX and try YYYYYY

The mother says that isn't there neither (because the son/daughter has moved it to another part of the dashboard)

  10. With the current Preview Dash Badger, do you find it will occasionally stutter when using the triggers to navigate? It's something I've reported via the console but I don't seem to have access to the Preview section of the forum.

As to the issue raised by Shaggy about Support not being able to guide a person around the system because the dashboard has been customised. Why wouldn't they take them to the required settings through the Guide button menu?

Can't say I've noticed any stutter myself mate.I'll keep an eye on it now you mentioned it.

The actual settings section on the dash/home will be the same for everyone & where support "should" tell anyone to go when trying to fix a problem.

The actual home screen is customisable ( the new on that is) so you can have what you want on it more or less.

There are a couple of things that you can't remove.

    Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

Yes Geek, Microsoft needs to add the Xbox Live Feature of Voice Messages, back. All Xbox 1 consoles have the same audio codec, unlike Xbox 360, so it is possible. Txt is boring. There has also been over 6.5k votes for it on the official feedback site. Also
make Avatars more prominent too, instead of hiding in a shoe box Avatar App. I wouldn't like to live in a box. Learn from what 360 has. The 360 has features which have helped make it a success.

I love how since the March Update came out, Party Chat shows either a Kinect symbol or Mic symbol, for what sort of mic you're using. I've never used the mic which came with my Xbox 1 Day 1 Edition console as I prefer and want to use Xbox 1's awesome Kinect.

All I want is for it to be less Windows 8 like, a bit more like Xbox 360's UI, user friendly, and loading stuff faster, force the OS to do voice messaging, and that's me.

    Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

Since joining Xbox late 2010 I've noticed they've redesigned the UI a couple of time. And Windows 10 comes out late this year.

I love the current Xbox 360 UI. I'm not really a fan of the Windows 8 UI. I think it's too boxy and snap-py. Microsoft is really listening to feedback for PC versions for Windows 10 and rolling out the return of the Start Menu which Windows 7 has and I love.

Microsoft does need to make changes and improvements to the UI and OS. After all, it is the essential piece of software which helps protects against viruses, malicious activity, and to reduce problems experience with Party Chat and loading friends list.
It also has to be kid/youth friendly too and something which little kids can use without continual assistance. Xbox 360's UI is like this. It's not just middle aged adults on here. I don't mean to age discriminate. Rolling out new features and keeping them
can slow down OS performance. Just look at the performance speed wise for starting/shutting down hardware between Windows XP, Vista, and 7. Vista rolled out a tonne of new features and it's still crappy compared to Windows 7.

What I would like improved is accessing messages/friends/achievements quicker. A UI/OS performance shouldn't be solely based of your ISP speed. Sure Friends use active tiles. I'm glad you can add what you want to the Dashboard background. And please, try
to make things less boxy. But if they can have the UI/OS performance as good or near that (better) like how 360's current UI is which runs on much less RAM and weaker hardware, than that's good.

Xbox 1's UI is better than what it was like at Launch - By Far! At Launch, it was taking around 45 seconds just to open each app, 45 seconds for Friends, 45 seconds for Messages. Now it only takes around 2-10 seconds. So there is a software performance improvement
there. I don't listen to peps on here who say "ITS YOUR INTERNET". Many peps have ADSL and not VDSL or Fibre Broadband. Even being on ADSL, my Windows 7 OS on my HP Pavilion dv6 is pretty snappy regardless of ADSL speeds. My household's ADSL average 10.9mb/s
    down 0.9mb/s up.

Since Xbox 360 has had a lot of UI changes since it launched, there's no ruling out Microsoft won't do the same for Xbox 1. Microsoft roles out many Updates for it's supported products to help improve user experience.

    Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

Here are (some of) the minor gripes I have with the current Xbox One UI:

    1. Pins should be easily movable on the console, just like with Smartglass.

    2. The tiles on the My Games and Apps menu should have more than just 2 rows and should fit on 1 screen.

    3. We should have the ability to select multiple friends at once, like with sending a message, when sending party invites from the Friends app - none of this select 1 friend, get sent to the party, then have to navigate back to the friends list to invite
    another friend kind of nonsense.

    4. Add the ability to make and send voice messages.

    5. The ability to unsnap and still listen to music-based apps.

    6. We should be able to pin subsections from the Friends app: Activity Alerts, My Profile, etc.

    7. Streamline and re-organize the Settings app.

    8. Make on-screen Kinect voice commands universally in green (or with alternate colors for the colorblind) as a requirement for all apps (currently Netflix doesn't do this).

    9. When sending a message, there should be additional sorting options, such as followers and recent players.

    10. When sending a message from the Friends app, have the ability to select multiple friends BEFORE sending the message.

    11. When sending the same message to multiple friends, don't have it spam the message history - just have a list of names it was sent to instead.

    12. Fix various app isses (for example, can't use voice commands to access Hulu Plus queue) that have persisted for a long time.

    13. Add additional disability options (such as what was mentioned on #8).

    14. Have the ability to move/resize/add/remove tiles on the Home screen (but never actually removing the "active" window - that should stay for obvious reasons, but can still be resized/moved). This concept could EASILY replace the pins section entirely.

    15. Add the ability to get UI backgrounds from additional sources, such as online images via the Internet Explorer app (or the Spartan browser later).

Well, I guess that's all for now. If I think of any more, I'll just continue my list in another post below. ;)
