Xbox one dashboard redesign ?

I'm not happy with the current layout and navigation. I loved the "Metro" style for a few months but have grown to dislike it a lot.

The large recently played screen which allows you to switch back and forth is just pointless to me since it glitches out apps a lot causing me to need to close/ exit the app then go back in. Plus, doesn't it put the most recent played at the bottom?

Listing the most recently used apps at the bottom makes no sense to me either. I'd rather just pin my four most used apps or games there. It's annoying to go through I few apps I rarely touch just to have them listed as most recent on the home screen.
Then have to go to my Pins to get to what I want. It's like, "Good thing Xbox listed setting on the home screen, god knows I'm going to need it soon because I was just there..."

I never use snap. Never.

The Friends tile shows on the main home screen and there is a friends tab too. I liked the original setup which had one tile with your info and friends. Adding the Friends Tab and tile just creates more to navigate though.

What's with all the unused space? I believe the Pins could be on the home screen at the bottom. They don't need to be huge tiles. Make the adverts or featured a ticker at the top or bottom. Leave the huge space for pins or whatever.

Store tab; why are the categories on the far right? So I have to navigate through the store featured items? Don't we have featured items on the home screen too? And look, click on games and more featured items....oh wait. These are the same featured
items which appear on the store tab. Well I'm defiantly gonna buy it now cause you showed me the advert twice...

Apps; click apps then we go to featured, popular on xbox, new releases. New release and popular I get; but Featured? And why can't New and popular be on the same page as All Apps? Do I need to click though page after page to get to items? Xbox rep
stated they wanted to make it so the customer did not have to go through page after page to get what they wanted. Lets go back to that idea.

And when I exit stuff then exit instead of running in the background. No wonder the system spazes out. Keep it simple; Just my thoughts

System update?

Yeah I think it was just some more firmware and getting ready for the next dashboard redesign. Nothing visible I think.

 

I remember when they changed the 360 dash , blades ...avatars ....there was war in the forums ..lolz.

Now it is the holy grail of dashes .

I am not bothered tbh .

But understand people like their backgrounds , I have a nice photo of my eldest grandson on my phone , as wallpaper .

Maybe an empty screen , with your picture on , and drop down tabs with games / apps etc , in a banner along the top..?.

How about a tablet or windows 8?

 

Got a graphic tablet not a one with screen. my xbox, tv, a old laptop and thats it.

Its fine I can live with that was juts wondering.

 

I bought a tablet around Christmas just to use with my One. Now that I have it I hardly use my computer at home and hardly use the tablet for the One lol

 

I think about a desktop or tablet.

I kinda want both but one has to wait.

Tablets and cell phones dont do what I want I mean they can but yeah its a pain.

I like the current Xbox One dashboard but I do miss the Xbox 360's guide menu. It will be interesting when Windows 10 gets released. Will the dashboard stay the same or will it get a complete redesign?

 

Here are (some of) the minor gripes I have with the current Xbox One UI:

1. Pins should be easily movable on the console, just like with Smartglass.

2. The tiles on the My Games and Apps menu should have more than just 2 rows and should fit on 1 screen.

3. We should have the ability to select multiple friends at once, like with sending a message, when sending party invites from the Friends app - none of this select 1 friend, get sent to the party, then have to navigate back to the friends list to invite
another friend kind of nonsense.

4. Add the ability to make and send voice messages.

5. The ability to unsnap and still listen to music-based apps.

6. We should be able to pin subsections from the Friends app: Activity Alerts, My Profile, etc.

7. Streamline and re-organize the Settings app.

8. Make on-screen Kinect voice commands universally in green (or with alternate colors for the colorblind) as a requirement for all apps (currently Netflix doesn't do this).

9. When sending a message, there should be additional sorting options, such as followers and recent players.

10. When sending a message from the Friends app, have the ability to select multiple friends BEFORE sending the message.

11. When sending the same message to multiple friends, don't have it spam the message history - just have a list of names it was sent to instead.

12. Fix various app isses (for example, can't use voice commands to access Hulu Plus queue) that have persisted for a long time.

13. Add additional disability options (such as what was mentioned on #8).

14. Have the ability to move/resize/add/remove tiles on the Home screen (but never actually removing the "active" window - that should stay for obvious reasons, but can still be resized/moved). This concept could EASILY replace the pins section entirely.

15. Add the ability to get UI backgrounds from additional sources, such as online images via the Internet Explorer app (or the Spartan browser later).

Well, I guess that's all for now. If I think of any more, I'll just continue my list in another post below.

 

Thats a good question too auswulf which brings me to ask yet another question do think windows 10 is gunna be good ? i really do not know very much about 10 but im wondering if this is a good direction for ms to focus on or not.
