Xbox One dashboard freezing/console lock-up

Okay the factory reset worked (so far)... and I still got all my games and stuff. Thank you for the help guys.

Xbox One instability

I've had way more xbox 360 crashes than xone, also different machines so you know. Difference now is my xbox doesn't have to be restarted, it just goes to dashboard which isn't an issue.

Xbox 360 crashes it completely locks up and freezes until i restart.

I was playing Forza 6 just now and all of a sudden the track started disappearing textures wouldnt load and the game crashed so I went back to the dashboard and the dashboard froze up on me... think I might have to send the console in for repairs.

 

This has been happening to my friend and I, but not quite as bad. Also have seen a few people on here besides us with this issue or similar. I believe it is an OS Glitch or error, so I would honestly wait till a couple updates come out. Might just save you
a couple hundred dollars.

For me, some days it goes just like yours, others like today, no problems whatsoever. I know it's very annoying but I really advise patience. Many think its software based not hardware, in which case we may get a fix if enough attention is brought to this
issue. I will create my own post as well.

 

Forgot to mention that others I've spoken with have named a similar timeframe, which lends credence to software not hardware. Just hope it gets fixed soon

 

Thanks for replying Keedle. I'm relieved that I'm not alone in this. I've decided already that I'm not paying Microsoft to fix an issue that they created, thats just ridiculous to me. I'll be patient and wait for a fix even though live support told me it
had nothing to do with updates or software but whatever, I refuse to pay for repairs. Microsoft has lost themselves a loyal customer of over 16 years. I'll continue to use Windows on my PC but I assure you the next console I buy will not have an X in its name.

 

Oh and a temporary fix is to do a factory reset.. seems to stop the issue for a few hours but it persists. Still trying to wrap my head around what could be causing this strange issue.

 

No problem! Just trying to get the word out about a seemingly crippling software bug seems to be making the rounds. It works like a virus it seems to me. A sinister thought came to me that this seems to be happening right before a supposed upgraded xbox
is announced, but I don't think I'm cynical enough to believe that kind of thing.

As for the factory reset, one of the first things I tried. Games and all. Luckily the cloud preserves your saves sono lost data. It does seem to have helped somewhat. Like I said, depends on the day. I'm luckily able tp use it enough to not warrant sending
it in.

I hope our patience works out and that this does catch the attention of whoever needs to see it. Tomorrow I'll probably make another thread just so that they see more people reporting it.

 

I'm having similar buggy issues but mine doesn't seem to completely freeze. If I'm in an app like netflix it will freeze out of it and the timeframe lines up very close with when you said yours started. After speaking to a representative the first time it
was during that 4 day outage they had going on 2 months ago from 02/20/16-02/23/16. The representative stated that there was some corruption problems having due to the outages and I just needed to delete my profile and redownload it. I thought it was really
stupid to attempt to do something like that while their servers were messing up but they reassured me it was what needed to happen. I went ahead and did it and ever since its been doing this minor freeze but mine eventually lets it continue. Couple other
minor issues have arrisen such as game art on the my games an apps screen not loading properly. I have attempted to have them troubleshoot it multiple times since then and they tell me to send my console in for repairs which is unacceptable for them breaking
the software and then blaming the hardware. I'm not an idiot and wont be falling for these scams

 

I have to do that at least 17 times a day

 

Have an XBox One day one edition and when working I've really found it a great piece of kit, however I went months and months with Kinect not working following an update then now this issue. It becomes unresponsive and then freezes even after a hard reset,
I have tried to Reset to Factory Settings but think it would take days for it to allow me to get far between freezes and lock ups.

I have now finally resolved my issue by removing the Xbox One from my setup as originally my Virgin TiVo box was routed through it as intended. Having been an Xbox Original and Xbox 360 owner my faith in these consoles has been severely rocked so am happy
to lose out on my limited game playing and will use the Tivo's Netflix app. I've never been a PlayStation fan so won't be going down that route either.

Whilst I appreciate fixing issues isn't an overnight task months and months does take the Mickey somewhat.

 

Yard Noh did you manage to fix it? You seem to be the only one I know that reports the issue I have. Also does you xbox when it feeezes does it begin to make a strange noice? I am betting it is a hard drive issue
