  1. Xbox One Custom Soundtracks

It is a bit embarrassing the successor to the console that pioneered the ability to play your own music on a game does not support such a feature. Not only did the original Xbox pioneer this, but the Xbox 360 refined it into an art. Streaming from your harddrive,
from your network, or even your MP3 player, your music was there to replace that on the game. And even now, you cannot play music from your favorite media player.

Fast forwarding to the Xbox One you are highly limited in your options. Firstly you -can- play your own music, though definitely not ideally. There s one requirement that must always be met in order to listen to your music while you game.

    An app must be snapped.

Furthermore there is one flow that wasn't present in prior consoles' iterations of the feature. It doesn't replace the game's music. It just plays over top. Resulting in a convoluted mess unless you manually adjust the game music volume.

This is so bad that is it hilarious. I can understand something like Internet Explorer being snapped so you can look up something while you game, or even something like watching TV while you game. But having to have an app snapped that not only takes up area
of your screen, but also shrinks and letter boxes your game? This is asinine. Just like Skype, I should be able to allow the app to play in the background so I can listen to music while playing my game in full screen.

I just cannot wrap my head around how many times the ball has been dropped and no information provided.

    :)

    Playing Xbox original games=Custom soundtrack

I'm quite curious as to why the custom soundtrack feature for the xbox original games are disabled when played on the Xbox 360. For example, WWE Raw 2, where you play custom soundtracks to various character entrances. While it does work on the Original Xbox,
it does not work when played on the Xbox 360 via backwards compatibility. Looking a few of the games on the Wiki list, others also have the custom soundtrack feature disabled.

    Xbox One and DLNA

Yes - DLNA and custom soundtracks w/out 'windowed snap' requirements...shouldn't have to shrink the game play window to listen to custom soundtracks.

Yes. I have to say how frustrating it is, to see all of these console updates, and nothing that even mentions this. I mean even the XBOX Music app is useless, since it's music can only be played Snapped and over the music of the game. And if I want to lower
the game resolution and not fill the screen, I might as well just get a 360 version of the game where I can play my own music. This is my biggest complaint of the new system hands down.

My absolute favorite feature of the Xbox 360 was custom soundtracks. I love to listen to my own music collection (from my iPod) while relaxing and playing a great game. I fully expected this feature to still exist on Xbox One and after an initial $750 investment
in the next gen I'm EXTREMELY unhappy. Microsoft, PLEASE re-implement this feature. I can't voice my frustration on this enough. Why should newer technology be more restrictive? And if the philosophy of the Xbox One is to be your One Stop entertainment hub
then why does it not have a seamless and reliable way to connect your MP3 player like the previous generation already did so well???

    Xbox One's missing functions

    Hello everyone :)

Apparently, people have forgotten the history of the Xbox console...

Original Xbox = Introduced the Custom Soundtrack with some games because you could rip music into the HDD

Xbox 360 = Took the Custom Soundtrack to the next level by allowing the user to play their ripped music from the HDD anytime that they wanted to.

Xbox One = It took away all of this functionality completely

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone :)

    no custom soundtracks

I found that once I bought a good headset for the 360 I never once played music while gaming. Now I am always listening to music on my phone while playing. I think this could have something to do with people missing the feature
