Xbox One Cortana Says She Didn't Hear Anything, but she heard me say Hey Cortana

Cortana on Xbox One has stopped working suddenly. I can still wake up the Xbox with Cortana, but once on, every time I say 'Hey Cortana', the Cortana box opens and immediately says "Sorry about that, I didn't hear anything" then closes.

Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Hey Cortana Bugs

I'm running into the issue where I say "Hey Cortana watch Nick Jr." or "Hey Cortana watch Disney Jr" and she recognizes the speech, but just says "try Watch tv". She does recognize "Hey Cortana watch ESPN". I've tried manually changing to these through
one guide and they're both favorites.

Cortana hears us a lot better, just won't change channels sadly.

 

Cortana stopped working on Xbox One

I recently purchased an Xbox One S. Cortana worked fine for a while. But now she'll hear my voice, but won't respond to any commands.

When I say Hey Cortana, a box will pop-up with Listening. And that's it. She won't do anything beyond that. The same thing happens when I try to type a command. And it doesn't matter whether I'm signed-in or not.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I understand you're having trouble with your Cortana voice commands. Are you able to communicate in game chat or party chat with he same headset you're experiencing this issue with? If so I recommend first toggling the Cortana Voice Commands Off/On from
you're "Settings" in the section called "System" where it says "Cortana Settings". If it continues to act unusually you may want to try a Soft Factory Reset:

How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One (Make sure you select the Keep My Games & Apps option to avoid lengthy downloads). When you do any kind of Factory Reset you must know you're Microsoft Account Email and Password to recover your
gamertag afterwards.

Thank you! Turning Cortana off and on again worked. I am curious though as to why she stopped working in the first place, or why she seems to be better some days than others. Does she get bogged down over time because of the cache or something?

Yes, I call Cortana 'she'. Totally anthropomorphized her.

btw, I use Kinect, not a headset.

Just like any other game, app, or program on the Xbox, Cortana can also get bogged down by cache or technical bugs caused by the power supply need to be

power cycled.

Simple troubleshooting usually fixes small errors like this so keep power cycling in mind if you encounter any other issues going forward!

 

Turn off cortana. Console will restart. Than turn on again. Totaly worked. Thx
