    Xbox one controllers, yes that's multiple, drift up


    Both of my xbox one controllers drift up. I can leave them flat on a table and suddenly the cursor starts moving up on its own. If im playing fps, I will move forward on my own. It's absolutely annoying. I've tried hard reset. Ive tried plug and play. I've
    tried updating firmware (I'm up to date with everything, by the way). The issue is not resolved. Now what?

    4th controller still drifting up

    That's... strange.

    4 controllers, all with the same issue.

    Some things to try:

    -Borrow a controller from a friend, one you know works, does that drift up on your console too?

    -Make sure the controllers are updated

    -Try using the controllers wired

    Multiple controllers cause RIGHT drift

    Brand new XBOX1 with two controllers

    Use EITHER controller on its own and everything OK

    Use BOTH controllers and after random time (couple minutes to couples of hours) and everything starts playing up as though somebody pressing right-arrow on either controllers direction pad (the right direction button under the left joystick). Once this happens,
    powering off either controller (so just have one controller) does NOT rectify, powering off both controllers and then powering up just one does NOT rectify. Restarting XBOX1 does NOT rectify. However, switching off XBOX1 and removing the power cable AND the
    controllers batteries then starting all back up appears to rectify for some indeterminate time. Not exactly an elegant work-around.

    Anybody aware if this is a previously known issue (hopefully software and can be patched) or if the XBOX1 is toast......

    Not quite understanding what you mean by centerpoint. Is the controller drifting up? For steps on drifting controllers, check out our

    Xbox One Controller Troubleshooter    . Unfortunately for drifting issues, the controller would need to be repaired or replaced depending on your warranty status.

    That is strange. I've only ever had stick drift on my old 360 controllers. I don't know if the standard Xbox one controllers have it, but the Xbox Elite controller sticks can be adjusted to have dead zones to avoid drift. Check in the Xbox Accessories
    app if you can adjust it for normal controllers.
    Have my elite controller set up and still drifts. Can't do standard controller. Did notice they drift worse on any COD.

    If you were buying a controller and it was defective or faulty with MINIMAL or NO use, then yes you would have a case here. If you are having multiple controllers with drifting issues that function fine on another console, then it is a console hardware issue
    (check your warranty or return/exchange options).

    Controllers build up debris in the analog stick that can cause drifting problems; sometimes a proper cleaning will help with this issue.

    If you have owned your controllers and console for a long period of time (outside warranty period), you will more than likely not be able to return or be refunded for your purchases.

    You can't fix controller drifting as the Xbox one does not allow you to re-calibrate it, as for the multiple presses this can usually be fixed by powercycling your console (if you didn't drop your controller, if you did it might be an internal controller
    malfunction)
