Xbox One controller's sharp edges injure index fingers when pressing triggers quickly

I watched a video where the GM of Xbox's accessory business told Major Nelson how the Xbox One's controller got millions of dollars of R&D, and over 40 resulting improvements from the 360's controller. With so much comprehensive love going into it, how
is it possible that the controller made it into consumers' hands with a painful flaw?

There are two *sharp* edges on the controller shell, just beyond the triggers, to the sides of the battery compartment. If your fingers are fairly long like mine, their tips will extend over these edges every time the triggers are pressed fully. In my
case, they slam painfully against the bottom side of the 2nd knuckle. The constant chopping got so painful during a session of Pinball FX 2 that I had to stop and check my fingers. Sure enough, a visible injury was developing, though the skin had not yet
been broken.

I took matters into my own hands. [Mod Removed - Please don't post self-repair options] But this defect must be rectified in future revisions of the controller.

Did anyone at Microsoft actually test the controller with human subjects?

It's not the triggers themselves that are sharp. It's the plastic housing of the controller that the triggers go down into. The inner edges of the plastic hurt my fingers.

 

Xbox One Triggers and Bumpers- how do you play?

Is it really weird that I find it really weird just using my index finger? It feels more natural to use my index fingers for the bumpers and middle fingers for the triggers. When I try option 2 the feeling of the bumper pressing against the inside of my
index finger feels distracting.

Were you guys using the same methods you've described on Xbox 360?
