Xbox One controllers only connect when sat within 2 foot of console! Keeps disconnecting

Hi guys,

My Xbox One has recently started having problems connecting to my controllers. It is generally fine when sat really close to the console (no more than 2 feet) but as soon as I sit further away it constantly disconnects and can take several minutes to find
connection again unless I move closer to the console. I have three official controllers and it does the same with all of them so I assume it must be an issue with the console.

Any help you can give would be hugely appreciated! Would resetting the console help? I've had the issue for a week now so please don't suggest turning it off and on!

Xbox controller wont work

I have tried 2 different xbox controllers and neither of them will connect to my console. When i try to connect them the xbox will stop flashing but the controller's home button just keeps flashing. Any ideas whats happening?

Controller disconnects after 1 foot

Both of my controllers are disconnecting and connecting when they are moved 1 foot away from the xbox. They only maintain connection when lying directly infront of the xbox. I already updated my controllers and moved every possible obejct out of the way.
I also moved everything electronic that may cause the problem. I even moved the Xbox to a different room but the problem remains.

Controller Disconnect Troubleshooter. Unfortunately, if none of the steps work, it's likely that your Xbox One needs to be serviced. If you're still having trouble after that, please let us know

i've had this problem since the last update(i think thats when i started) and it will only work if i keep the controller within a foot of the console, it connects for like 10 minutes and then disconnects frequently and had searched far and wide for the answer
to this, but most people just send the console in for repairs. Hoping the next update fixes this issue

Yep I can agree with this, as with the controller sat on my lap, I crossed my legs, blocking Kinects view of the controller, and it said it was disconnected. Put my leg down and it reconnected. This is about 5 foot away from the TV and Kinect.

2. The controller keeps disconnecting.

I think this is more of a problem with the controller than the console, because this happens only when the controller disconnects from the game midway. Sometimes, I get lucky and see a "Connect a controller" error popup, but most times the console arbitrarily
shuts off with the XBox light on both the console and the controller blinking. This happens irrespective of battery levels in the controller. Does not happen at all if I connect it with a wire to the console. I am yet to try a different controller though.

I tried multiple different controllers over the weekend. The problem persists. My controller worked alright with other Xboxes. Clearly, this is not a controller issue.

I have a similar problem, my controller works fine for hours on end, as long as the xbox can see or is in direct line of sight of the controller. I have a big pine bed with a massive foot board, so if i'm sat back the controller keeps disconnecting, if i'm
sat in front of the xbox it works fine until i get comfortable and put my knee up cutting off the visibility between both of them. I have since discovered that inside the controller (you can check with your phone's camera to save taking apart) is an infared
sensor used for kinect, i think this may be my issue, but not sure how to fix aside from putting my xbox on the ceiling
