Xbox One controllers have stopped responding on PC

So I have 2 Xbox One controllers that I use on my PC, one was a replacement for the other since the left control stick would keep drifting upwards by itself.

However now for some reason I don't understand, they don't seem to work anymore in games like Titanfall, Dark Souls 2 or Alien Isolation for instance.

It's strange because in the Control Panel where it lets you calibrate the controllers, they work perfectly fine there. I am able to press the buttons and move the sticks with it registering every input.

Also the controller works in the menu for Steam Big Picture mode, but the moment it enters a game it stops responding even though there are controller button prompts on-screen.

I have Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit Service Pack 1 installed with all the latest drivers and updates.

I've tried uninstalling the driver for the controller and reinstalling with the controller connected via USB with Windows Update automatically finding it and updating.

I've tried downloading the file from Major Nelson's blog post and the Xbox download page, installing it without the controller connected and then connecting it after the driver installs.

I've tried uninstalling from the Device Manager and reinstalling after restarting the computer.

None of these have worked, I don't have an Xbox One console so I don't know if updating the controllers through that will be the solution.

Has anyone else experienced this problem also?

Any assistance or advice would be much appreciated.

I tried this indeed but it didn't worked for me

I tried unpluging, uninstalling, rebooting, but it's probably an windows update problem on my windows 7 (i would say they did it on purpose to make me switch to windows 10 ?! ^^)

Xbox One Wireless Controllers stopped responding

Hi,

My controllers stopped working since 2-3 weeks. I waited for a friend to test my 4 controllers with his wireless adaptater but it didn't worked either.

I don't know where it comes frome (i don't think the 4 of them just stopped working at the same time !), maybe an update or something ?

I tried looking at the support and when they say to do this in the driver's properties "Select Allow this device to wake the computer, and then select OK.", i can't click the button, it's disabled.

I still have wired controllers to play with while tried to find a solution but i'll really like to get my wireless controllers back !

The controller works again now, have no idea how I fixed it or why it decided to function properly now though...

Hi there,

I had this problem as well last year it is a very rare bug in the console system what splved it for me is a hardboot of the console and taking out the batteries, hardboot it by holding the xbox buttom on the console until it shuts down than after 5 sec take
the power cablenout just to be sure, when booting the console up connect your xbox controller via usb with it if it doesn't work try it with the connection buttom on the controller (located next to the charging port) and the same buttom on the console (located
next to the front usb)

Holf the buttpm on the controler first till it blinks and than hold the console buttom until your controller reconnects.

I would try to update them on another console. I would try them on said console or a pc with a blu tooth connection. If they work, I would try once more to use on the console. If still a problem, try doing a factory reset and see if maybe driver corrosion
is the issue. Good luck!

Since you said you’ve had the Xbox for several years, is this an original Xbox one or an Xbox one S? And I’m just making sure I got this clearly down, your controller or any other controller and it does the same thing on your console, correct? Have you tried
your controller on another system to see if it works properly
