XBOX one controller worked fine with PC until it suddenly stopped working

As the topic says, I have been using my xbox controller with the same cable for over a year, but I got the impression that the cable had begun to stop working as it became shoddy and frequent for my controller to disconnect, only to work again when I unplug the USB and plug it back in. Since then the issue has only gotten worse. Currently, I can no longer get my controller to even turn on when plugged into the PC (if I am lucky, it vibrates and nothing more). The controller itself still works and flashes on if I put batteries in it, but not with the PC. The controller is not visible in device manager unless I go to "find hidden devices". I have uninstalled the device and its drivers through this "find hidden devices" to see if it was an issue, yet every time I reboot the PC, it picks up the controller, logs it back into "hidden devices" and seemingly re-downloads the drivers, yet remains unable to turn on. I recently purchased a new cable to see if that was the issue, but after browsing various forums, I am not certain this new cable is a data transfer cable, which could explain why this did not solve the problem either. I have ordered a third cable (assuring it was data transfer) to see if that could help it. Any ideas as to what this might be?
