Xbox one controller won't work at all

Hey, hopefully someone can help me with this, but before I start I'd just like to say straight away this is the second xbox one controller that has done this on me now, so as you can imagine my patient for these controllers is wearing pretty thin and I won't
be purchasing a new one for quite a while if this is what keeps happening to them.

The controller just won't turn on... At all. I have put fresh batteries in, I have plugated it in with various usb cables, I've tried holding down the Xbox and menus buttons for 5-10 seconds, nothing. There seems to be no life in it what so ever. The annoying
part is it was working fine earlier today, I turned off the system, came back to it later on and the controller was dead. So if anyone has any idea on what's going on please feel free to say because I don't have a clue

As I said this the second controller to do this on me, I won't be purchasing a third, or at least not for quite a while.

Xbox One Controller Issues

My xbox controller will not connect to my console. I went through all troubleshooting steps and it still doesn't work. My controller will sometimes barely light up but won't connect or won't do anything at all. What should I do? I am also over warranty and
can't afford a replacement right now.

Hi there Thomasarus21,

I want to first verify the batteries you are using, brand, power, etc.

-I start here because this controller does not function off the same power as the xbox 360 controller. Also all batteries are not created to fully function on the xbox one controller. I assume you are using the batteries that come with the controller...but
just in case....

Here is something you've probably read but I thought to post it just in case :

AA Batteries -

In short the resolution is to first buy two batteries per the support link (based on your preferences) but I'm not trying to discount that you may have, in some way purchased a bad controller two times.

You are talking about the Xbox One controller, right? The Xbox 360 wireless controller won't work even if using a USB cable.

No. Controllers and accessories that work with Xbox 360 won't work with Xbox One (and vice versa). Also not all games are compatible, please check this link for available games as of now

Nope, the Xbox 360 controllers won't work with the Xbox One. The Xbox 360 controllers use IR to connect to the console, whilst the Xbox One uses WiFi direct (way faster than IR).

Bulls.hit. Of course he knows. You won't be able to and of course he wouldn't say that. And of course 360 controllers won't work and many/most 360 headsets won't work on the Xbox One either. It's all about forcing you to spend more money.

I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.
