Xbox One Controller wont update

When i try to update my controller to use the stereo headset adapter it tells me to plug in the controller using a micro-USB cable from my Xbox one to the controller, however when i do this (using the Micro-USB that came with the official stereo headset
adapter) it still says there is no controller connected via USB, even though there is and i can even take the batteries out at this stage to make sure the micro USB is giving power to the controller and therefore connected and working... Any help?

Here are some things you can try and see if it fixes the problem:

Xbox one controller dead after pressing update

I plugged my old Xbox one controller into my new Xbox one s and saw there was an available update. when i have pressed it my controller turned off and now wont turn back on even after changing batteries or plugging in via usb. any help?

 

Is the controller on when you are attempting the update?

 

Make sure the controller is on, and also make sure the battery indicator shows a plug connection instead of just a battery level on the Home screen.

 

If i remember right the first time i updated my controller was back in February i had to plug in the headset that came with the console then the usb then follow the instructions the headset adapter and your headset have to be plugged in to update

 

This is happening to me also, and it's incredibly frustrating.

So I totally wasted $25 on the adapter just like you guys. I'm getting the "There is no controller connected to the USB" error when clearly I have a controller connected. Very frustrating. I've also tried 2 different USB cords with the same result. I wish
someone had a solution.

 

having the same problem and I have tried it with two different controllers and got the same thing, also tried it with 3 different mirco usbs. I was able to update my controller the first day I got the one, but not sure why it is not letting me update it
this time

 

Has there been any solutions to this? I'm getting the same message

 

Quality Microsoft software at it's finest as always! I wonder if they outsource development o ODesk or something like that!
