Xbox one controller won't update

I'm trying to update my controller so I can use my headset...it keeps saying it's not connecting with the USB cable. I've tried using a different USB cable but that didn't work.

The controller charges/switches on while connected with the USB cable so I don't know why it won't update?

The controllers on through the USB cable, I connect the headset adapter, I plug in the headset, it says the controller needs an update and takes me to the screen...then says the USB cable isn't connected?

I've ran out of ideas and need help, thanks!

my Xbox one controller disconnected while having a controller update and now it won't turn back on, what can I do?

 

Xbox one controller keeps needing to update

My controller won't sync to the Xbox one console, so I connected with USB to update the controller. I have gone through the update process 5 times on the same controller. Every time it says the update is complete, but then it won't sync. So I do a hard
reset, try to sync again, and it still won't work. I plugged it back in via USB, and it keeps saying that my controller needs an update. All five times it goes through the process of downloading and installing the update, and says the controller is updated
and ready to use. What am I doing wrong, or what can I do differently? Thanks

I've tried that...it still says the usb cable is disconnected from the controller and won't allow the update to happen.

Controllers now updated! I used a few phone cables before one finally worked!

 

I've tried many but they all don't work. Is there a specific one that you used.
