    Xbox One Controller won't turn on


    I've been using my Xbox One Controller for quite some time now, but not for playing on an Xbox One, but for playing games on my PC. So far, there hasn't been a problem with it, but since I don't play PC that much anymore, I've been thinking about selling
    it.

    Because I connected my controller via USB to my computer (and not via Bluetooth), I never had to use batteries, but since I now wanna sell it, I had to try if the controller even works properly without a direct cable connection. Turns out, it doesn't work
    properly, at least as it seems. If I am not mistaken, the white Xbox- symbol is supposed to flash when you press it, while it's not connected to anything, to signal that it's searching for a device. However, when I press the Xbox button, nothing happens. It
    doesn't flash like it's supposed to, even though I am certain the batteries are working fine (even tried different ones, still nothing) and the lamp/led isn't broken either (as it's working when I am using the controller with a cable). I also thought about
    the battery compartment being broken or something, but even that can't be true. When I connect the controller via cable to my pc and then unplug it while it has batteries in it, the Xbox symbol flashes and even starts flashing faster when pressing the "sync
    - button" (or however it's called, the small button on the front), which not only proves that the batteries are working, but also that the compartment isn't broken.

    I don't really know what's going on. I can't test the controller on an Xbox one to see if it connects properly, because I don't know anyone who owns an Xbox One. Like I said, I only ever used the controller via cable and on my pc. It has been connected or used
    on an Xbox. It's also been updated to the latest version via the "Xbox Accessories" App for Windows.

    Is my controller just broken or is that behaviour normal? Maybe it needs to be synched with an Xbox One onc,e before they start blinking? I really hope someone here can help me.

    Hey FinestOsprey84! It sounds like you've tried most of the steps available but just in case check out the info

    here     and see if there is anything new. If you're still having issues after that, I would suggest returning to the retailer you purchased the console from. Either way, please let me know how it goes!

    Hello Meister Mike,

    That could be a possibility however, I have never had a controller that was only used for pc. In my experience, the controller should at least flash white how you explained.

    One way you may be able to test this is by taking the controller to a GameStop or local game store. They should help you test it out on one of their consoles.

    Ok, so does that mean I have to "re-pair" the controller with an Xbox first and that's why it isn't blinking on its own? That would mean the controller is working perfectly fine and it's normal that it doesn't blink when pressing the Xbox button after using
    it on a pc?

    This tool provides troubleshooting steps for you to resolve you controller issue. If the Wizard identifies a need for a replacement, you will have to sign in and enter the controller serial number in the Controller Warranty Check Form to determine the controller warranty status (based on initial controller activation date).

    If you have warranty, you will be able to request a replacement via the Hardware Webform.

    If it is out of warranty, you will be directed to where you can purchase a new controller.
