    Xbox One controller won't turn on


    Hi everybody, I purchased my xbox one around 1 month ago and they came with Duracell batteries which ran out of power after six days, ok, I updated the controller. After that I got 4 Rayovac batteries and 2 of em made the controller work for 2 minutes! the
    other 2 batteries didn't even work! I had to get a Play and Charge kit and as soon as I got home I got my controller to charge the rechargeable battery from the kit and it worked fine for some days and the day before yesterday I was playing and then I decided
    to watch Netflix, pushed the xbox button on the controller and clicked on Turn Off Controller and it did turn off, after that my controller just won't turn on and the cable don't even light up indicating that the battery is being recharged, 2nd charging cycle!
    I tried new batteries and they don't work and when I try to turn on my controller it just won't turn on! It ain't working anymore, I am thinking this happened after the update cos it was working fine, I have contacted Microsoft and they asked me to turn the
    controller in so they can exchange it for me but I have seen many people in this forum saying what might fix that is updating the controller when MS drops an update but how will I do that since my controller won't turn on. I did all the steps the support suggests
    and nothing, anybody with the same issue that maybe got it fixed? Xbox One controller won't turn on :(

    Hey FinestOsprey84! It sounds like you've tried most of the steps available but just in case check out the info

    here     and see if there is anything new. If you're still having issues after that, I would suggest returning to the retailer you purchased the console from. Either way, please let me know how it goes!

    Xbox One controller won't turn on

    UPDATE: The controller now doesn't function while plugged in no lights nor does it work wirelesly still has no functionality or signs of any power.

    A lot of controllers are having issues especially after the update. I suggest visiting the service center on Xbox.com and requesting a replacement.

    Here's another thought that might get you going as I had a similar problem resulting from a power failure during a controller update.

    I haven't seen this functionality published anywhere, but try plugging the controller in via USB, then hold down the controller's Xbox and menu buttons for 5-10 seconds.

    There's several directions this might go once you've accomplished the above. Let me know your result once you've completed those steps and I'll watch the thread to assist from there.

    OMG!!! I tried that and it worked fine, I turned on my xbox with the controller attached via usb and I held the xbox button on the controller and it turned on my xbox and the controller is working like a charm now. THANKS a lot, thank you, thank you!!! Yay!

    this is the alert when trying to power on the controller after troubleshooting

    TROUBLESHOOTING METHOD:

    hard reset xbox

    unplug power and video cables

    remove battery pack from controller

    inster usb to micro cable(oem play and charge)

    re insert power and video cables

    boot xbox one

    once fully booted and connected via usb

    hold guide button and menus button for 5-10 sec.

    at this point a quick flash on the guide button and the alert on the tv is all i got out of it

    I went to do the update and it failed and then my controller won't turn on but it somehow turns the Mic on so I can hear my self talk omg its driving me crazy

    Hello Meister Mike,

    That could be a possibility however, I have never had a controller that was only used for pc. In my experience, the controller should at least flash white how you explained.

    One way you may be able to test this is by taking the controller to a GameStop or local game store. They should help you test it out on one of their consoles.

    Please follow this link for Xbox’s Controller Troubleshooting Wizard:

    This tool provides troubleshooting steps for you to resolve you controller issue. If the Wizard identifies a need for a replacement, you will have to sign in and enter the controller serial number in the Controller Warranty Check Form to determine the controller warranty status (based on initial controller activation date).

    If you have warranty, you will be able to request a replacement via the Hardware Webform.

    If it is out of warranty, you will be directed to where you can purchase a new controller.
