xbox one controller wont respond at all

ok I have an xbox one elite controller and a normal xbox controller im not sure if I need to post this hear or in a console section or not but ,my ontroller has power(both do and ive tried both) but they wont do any of the following

A. power on the console(instant on is on if that matters)

B nothing on my home screen will move or open I hit the face buttons and nothing ive even hardlined my elite controller with its included usb no luck

please help

X button on controller stopped working

My Xbox one controller recently was working 100% perfect until yesterday and the x button wont work at all, my extra controller also wont connect to the Xbox one at all even with the same batteries and battery pack that works fine
with the other one. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it

So, i am getting an Xbox update error wich is blocking me from playing online!

I Quit XBOX 360, Im going to get a ps4 because Microsoft wont respond and no one at Microsoft will help, all the suggested answers are no help and all I have to say is, I QUIT MICROSOFT! im getting a ps4 and switching everything Microsoft over to sony, if
anyone has a DIFFRENT answer pease respond.

Okay. Try doing a hard reset EXACTLY this way. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the
console. Once it is back up and operational test the results. Let us know. Good Luck!!

turns out it worked genesis I had never encounterd it before (the controller issue) and got scared(never even happened back with the original xbox and xbox 360) mods can do whatever they do with solved problems

Thanks for the reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. By reset do you mean trying a
power cycle
of the console or a factory reset? Have you done some troubleshooting on the Xbox One Controller? If not, try this article:
Troubleshoot your Xbox One wireless controller.
This will help you pinpoint what may be going on. I also recommend trying to
update your controller as the Ambassador stated.

If the problem persists, try doing a soft factory reset of the console,
Reset and keep games and apps to help reset the operating system and remove any potentially damaging files that may be on the OS causing this. Please note before doing this troubleshooting step, make sure to know your email and passwords for your Xbox profiles.

Try this out and let us know the results.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems, but if the previously posted troubleshooting steps did not resolve the problem, then it would seem that your console is in need of replacement.

When did you get your controller?

If you got it within 90 days, then you should be eligible for a replacement under Microsoft's manufacturers warranty for accessories.
