    Xbox One Controller won’t detect headset.


    Recently, my headset’s 3.5mm jack broke while plugged into my controller. I managed to pull it out without the jack falling off completely but, now my controller’s port won’t detect any headphones at all. There’s no volume slider in the settings tab nor
    does the mic/headset icon change.

    Xbox One on but won’t do anything

    My Xbox One will power on, with the white power light on, but it won’t do anything. The tv doesn’t detect an input source. I’ve checked the tv and the hdmi cable, and they both work. Also, the controller won’t connect to the Xbox. I can turn the Xbox on
    with the controller, but the controller won’t connect and flashes the middle button light. The Xbox will eject and take cds, and I can hear the cd rom spinning when I put a disc in, but the Xbox won’t do anything else, and the controller still won’t connect. I
    also can’t turn the Xbox off, unless I hold the power button for 5 seconds. When I press the the button, the sound plays for the Xbox’s turning off, but it stays on.

    Controller not detecting headset

    Controller suddenly won't detect headset. Headset works - have tested this. Controller is fine have tested this. Tried every troubleshoot and have reset the Xbox 1. Nothing is working?

    Headset won't work

    Hello there,

    Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. Just to clarify, have you tried to update the controller, or connect the controller to the Xbox One with a USB cable? When you connect the headset to the new controller does the controller detect the headset and
    there just isn't any sound coming out of the headset? or does the controller not detect the headset at all for either controller? Does the headset work on other devices?

    We thank you for bringing this inquiry to our forums community, and understand that this concerns an inability for your son to utilize his headset with his controller on his Xbox One console.

    A line through the microphone indicates that the microphone is not being detected, or in some cases, that the headset is not being detected. To test this, you can try the headset with another controller if available, or you may also try a different headset
    with the same controller if available.

    This will more than likely deal with the audio jack at the bottom of the controller, and we recommend attempting to follow our
    Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting support article as it provides steps to assist with headset detection in general.

    Try this out for us and then let us know the results.

    Are you experiencing audio quality/performance errors? Is the headset no longer being detected through the controller, and if so, have you attempted using a different Xbox One controller?

    Would you happen to be seeing a microphone with a line through it on the top right corner of your Xbox One home screen? A line through the microphone indicates that the microphone is not being detected, or in some cases,
    that the headset is not being detected. To test this, you can try the headset with another controller if available, or you may also try a different headset with the same controller if available.

    This will more than likely deal with the audio jack at the bottom of the controller, and we recommend attempting to follow our Xbox One

    Hello Ciara,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. We understand the controller is not detecting the headsets. We recommend to

    update the controller     with the headset plugged in. Even if it shows no update available hit A on it as it will run a search for update, this will usually resync the headset/controller.
