Xbox one controller won't connect to PC

    Xbox one controller won't connect to PC


    I'm using the Xbox One controller model 1708. The controller itself is most recently updated. I tried to connect it to my PC, which is also up to date (windows 11 22H2) via USB-C cable. It quickly vibrates once, but won't turn on, and the Xbox button doesn't light up or blink unless I press it. I tried to turn it on manually with the Xbox button, and it blinks until it shuts off, but won't connect to the PC. I've tried 4 different USB-C cables, so I don't think the cables are the problem. I put new batteries in the controller, and it's able to connect to my Xbox, but refuses to connect to the PC via Bluetooth. It isn't interfering with the Xbox, as I have it shut off and unplugged. The sync button doesn't do anything at all with the PC, it doesn't even blink. However, it can sync to my Xbox. I don't understand how I can use it on my Xbox just fine, but for some reason it just refuses to work with my PC. I've used this exact controller multiple times to play on this PC in the past.

    The Xbox One console doesn't support Bluetooth. That headset won't work with the Xbox One in any way.

    The new Xbox One controllers (the ones that come with the Xbox One S) have Bluetooth, but that's only used to connect the controller to a Windows 10 PC through Bluetooth.

    I suspect you're attempting to connect an Xbox 360 wireless controller to your PC using a Play & Charge cable? Effectively making it a wired controller?

    I'm afraid this won't work. Unlike Xbox One/Series X controllers, wireless 360 controllers are always wireless, connecting a Play & Charge simply charges the battery or powers the controller if no battery is present. Unfortunately the cable doesn't send data.

    The only way to connect these controllers to a PC is via an Xbox 360 gaming receiver. The receiver for Xbox one controllers is not compatible.

    Xbox 360 controllers will not connect wirelessly to a computer. If you are trying to use a Play-and-Charge cable to connect through USB, that is not what it is designed for and won't be compatible. If you really want to use an xbox controller on your computer
    I would recommend either purchasing an adapter build to do this, or one of the controllers out there that are built for PC.

    Hello,

    There isn't a specific adaptor for the Series X/S controllers for PC. The current adaptor works just fine with these newer controllers, however it is now in very short supply. There are third party ones available that do the same thing.

    The Xbox 360 wireless controllers use a different WIFI protocol, they need their own Xbox 360 wireless Gaming Receiver.

    Xbox One and Series X/S controllers can be connected to PC via Bluetooth, but headsets will only work with the Xbox One adaptor (or a third party version), they won't work when the controller is connected via BT
