Xbox One Controller + Windows 10: Audio jack stopped working

Hello everyone.

From one day to the next the audio jack of my Xbox One controller (model 1697) stopped working. I tested it on 4 different Windows 10 machines, two with the anniversary update and two without. Every time I connect some headphones I can see the controller
as an usb audio device in the audio settings. I can see that Windows is playing audio through it, but the signal does not seam to reach the headphones. I tried multiple different headphones and I tried connecting the controller with the wireless adapter and
with an usb cable to the PC, but no luck.

Has someone else experienced such an issue with their controller? Has someone an idea what else I could try before I try to RMA it?

xobx stereo headset adapter on PC

I have an older xbox one controller with no audio jack. I use it on a windows 10 PC. I purchased the stereo headset adapter however mic audio is not working. The PC sees both a headset and mic and I can hear audio through the headset. Mic audio seems as
if it's muted. I have tried multiple headsets, the controller was updated on my friends Xbox One but still get no audio. Chat rep said there's no mic audio at this time but it's coming soon? Is this true? Anyone else have an adapter and is it working normally?

i am having the same issue. my controller is only 6 months old and for some reason my headphones stopped working with it. they work with other devices but not my controller. were you able to resolve your issue? if so, how? thank you

Just to confirm, are you referring to the Xbox wireless adapter on your PC?

If so, please remove the wireless adapater first. Then search on Start "Device Manager" and open it. Plug in your wireless adapater and it should update the list on the Device manager. Uninstall the newly added driver. Once uninstalled, restart your PC then check if the wireless adapter will start to work when plugged in.

Every controller since my first (1 with audio jack, one XBO S, one XBO X) hasn't worked, so it's not the controllers themselves.

they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)

Microsoft is a huge corporation, one audio driver prepared for Windows (and signed) would probably handle a million headsets.

There is also no list of compatible kits...

My setup is claimed to be Xbox compatible - however it doesn't work with Xbox (USB not work, audio jack has no port).
