Xbox One controller will turn off console but won't turn it on

I've tried everything I can think of but out of the blue, I can turn on my Xbox One controller but the console won't turn on unless I turn on the console myself. I know it sounds trivial but I just want to make sure that there isn't something wrong with
my Xbox One X or my controller. Once the system is on, everything works fine, however, once I turn the console off (either using the controller or by powering off the base unit) the controller stays on. I've tried resetting the console, both partial and
full, and it says that both of my controllers are up to date as is the console. I've also tried re-pairing the controllers with the console but still stays the same. I quite literally just woke up and it was doing this, very odd.

Hi Shawn,

When you said you reset the console are you referring to a factory reset? If that didn't seem to work, it may be related to the power unit.

If you haven't already done so I recommend trying a hard reset and a power cycle.

Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 5 minutes.

Plug the console power cable back in.

Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

If possible plug the Xbox directly into the wall which is the recommended connection.

Let us know any updates.

That worked, I had done that before but it didn't do anything, not sure why it worked now...probably because I asked

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console.

I have tried turning everything off and disconnected everything, turned on the tv and connected the xbox to the amp and connected the amp to the tv making sure I plugged in to a arc input and turned that on I made sure the hdmi control on my amp was turned on my xbox will turn my amp on but my amp won't control my tv my old one s console had option to separately control both tv and amp but my series x console only has one option for cec control
