  1. Xbox One controller will not power on while the headset is connected.

My controller won't power on while the headset is connected. And if it is already powered on, connecting the headset will cause it to immediately power off. It's the original controller as well as the original headset that came with the Xbox One.

I've tried using a fresh pair of batteries and it still doesn't work.

I've tried removing the batteries and connecting the controller directly to the console with a USB cable and it still doesn't work.

I've tried using a different headset and it still doesn't work.

I've also tried using my headset on a different controller and it does work, so I can confirm that my controller is the problem, not the headset.

Here's a quick video of the problem:

Does anyone know how to fix this? With COD: AW and The Master Chief Collection coming next week (not to mention Destiny out right now), I NEED my controller to work with a headset. I'd rather not have to send it in for repair/replacement, as that will force
me to buy a new controller while I wait. Which is a huge inconvenience and basically $60 down the drain since I won't ever use the second controller once I get the replacement.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    :)

  3. Controller connection resets after unplugging Play & Charge cable while controller is being used

    Problem
When I am charging my wireless Xbox One controller with the official Play & Charge kit while using the controller in-game (any game, doesn't matter), and disconnect the cable because the controller is charged, the controller's connection to the console
    fails.

    Symptoms of the Problem
    • The controller shuts down abruptly
    • My headset (Xbox One Stereo Headset + Adapter) stops working
    • The controller restarts
    • The game indicates, "Reconnect Controller" despite the controller being on
    • The Xbox doesn't recognize any button presses, despite the controller being on
    • The headset does not play sound, despite the controller being on
How I Have Fixed It (Workaround)
    • Hard Shut Down the Xbox One (by pressing and holding power button for ~5 seconds)
    • Wait about a minute
    • Turn on Xbox One at the console by using the power button
    • Wait about 30 seconds (for the console to boot)
    • Turn on another controller ("Controller 2")
    • After Xbox One boots up completely, remove headset (and adapter) from first controller and plug it in to Controller 2
    Problem Isolation
    • This occurs with ALL Play & Charge kits/batteries
    • This occurs with ALL controllers (I've tried it on each of the three that I own)
    • This occurs regardless of whether the headset (and adapter) is connected to the controller or not
    When Problem DOESN'T Occur
    • The problem does not occur when charging a controller while not using Xbox One (Charging while console is off)
    • If I disconnect the charge cable prior to using the controller and before turning on the console, the problem does not occur
    Summary
In my opinion, due to this issue, the "Play & Charge Kit" needs to be renamed "Charge & Don't Play" kit. There is some fundamental problem that is happening when the controller is disconnected from its power source. The battery isn't using pass-through
charging properly. What should happen is that the cable charges the battery, and the battery feeds the controller while in use while feeding wireless data to the console. It seems like the cable is providing power AND a data connection to the console. So,
when that power/data connection is interrupted, the data stream is reset.

  4. Xbox One controller will not power on while the headset is connected.

I'm having the same issue with my new SSO Bundle and new XB1 Stereo Headset. I have opened a case with MS and referenced your forum post here. Kind of a bummer since I think the only way to fix this issue for now is to replace my entire bundle.

My headset cuts out and only works with one controller

    Hey Joe,

When it comes to headset troubleshooting there are a number of things to try to narrow down the issue to the headset or the controller. Does your headset connecting using an audio jack or through a headset adapter?

With the introduction of the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Xbox controllers, you are able to virtually connect mostly any headset but some may not be compatible due to the

    audio jack standards
    .

If the headset cuts out periodically then it may be due to the audio jack not being the right standard or the audio jack port in the controller is not functioning properly.

To troubleshoot your Xbox I recommend to
    power cycle
    the unit.

Check settings. Volume turned up on xBox and headset? Is headset being assigned to your account?

Try connecting headset to controller first, and then powering on the controller. Ensure the controller is assigned to your profile

how to connect headphone to xbox one

    Hello,

    Im ,

Please Follow These Steps : The Xbox Wireless Headset pairs with an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console in the same manner as an Xbox Wireless Controller:

    1. Be sure that both the headset and console are powered on.
    2. Press and hold the green power button on the headset (located on the back of the left earcup) for 4 seconds. You will hear a repeated pairing tone, and the power light on the headset will start flashing.
    3. Press the Pair button  on your console (the same button you use to pair a wireless controller with your console). The power light on the console will start flashing.
    4. When the headset and console connect with each other, the power lights on both devices will stop flashing.
To connect an Xbox Wireless Headset to a Win10, Android, or iOS device using Bluetooth:

    1. Be sure that the headset is powered on.
    2. Press and hold the green power button on the headset (located on the back of the left earcup) for 4 seconds. You will hear a repeated pairing tone, and the power light on the headset will start flashing.
    3. Go to the Bluetooth connections menu on your device and scan for available devices. The headset should appear as Xbox Wireless Headset in the available devices list.
    4. When the headset connects with your device, the power light will stop flashing.
