Xbox One Controller - Warranty Replacement/Terrible Support

About a month ago I purchased a brand new Lunar White Xbox One controller. Overall, pretty pleased with the new design and I probably would've enjoyed it - however, I noticed that the left thumbstick had an issue where it would sometimes "stick" when clicked
in. Honestly, a minor annoyance that I figured would buff out over time. Maybe only a few days later, I noticed that there was a loose piece inside of my controller that I could hear rattling around. Again, a minor annoyance that I figured didn't matter
as long as the controller functioned.

Cut to this week and my (at most, month-old controller) is shorting the sound to my headset and shorting the controller itself. This is now more than a minor annoyance. Having your controller and/or headset cut out on you in the middle of a competitive
multiplayer match is not really a good thing. Let alone the fact that it just shouldn't be happening anyway seeing as the controller is practically new! If I had in some way damaged the controller by dropping or throwing it then fine, that's on me. That
is not the case, however. This was a defective product right out of the box!

I decided it was time to contact support about this issue so that they could issue me a warranty replacement. What a waste of time! I had to explain the simple issues multiple times until the rep understood what I was saying and even then, I still have
to guide the rep into what it is that I wanted. All said and done, I was told that without a receipt from the retailer (GameStop), there was nothing they could/would do to help me. Excuse me?

I understand that I purchased the defective controller from GameStop, but that is and should be their only involvement in this situation. The controller was defective out of the box, making it Microsoft's issue and no one else's although it would seem that
they have made it mine. Sorry that I don't keep a receipt from a purchase a month ago. I shouldn't even need it considering that the Lunar White Xbox One controllers only went to retail a month, maybe two months ago at the most! That right there can tell
you that this product is still under warranty!

Long post aside - I'd like to thank Microsoft for wasting both my time and my money. Your products are lousy (which is probably why you won't stand by them) and your support is just as bad. In the future, I will take my money elsewhere. No wonder PlayStation
    is winning...

    :)

    My brand new custom controller

If you need to troubleshoot your controller because it's not responding or broken, see the

Standard Xbox One Wireless Controller overview
. You can fix most controller issues by following the troubleshooting information on that page.

If you've tried troubleshooting your controller and can't fix the issue, you can request a warranty replacement unit at
Device Support or contact an Xbox Support agent for help.

Note If you request a replacement for an Xbox Design Lab controller under warranty, MS will provide an exact replacement of that controller.

    Controller warranty

    Hi

I have purchased Xbox one s console and an additional controller separately. Both my additional controller and the controller which came with xbox are not functioning. I am looking for replacement warranty for both. I can replace one controller through my
xbox warranty. but how should i go ahead with replacement of the controller which bought separately?

    Hey hey its ev! The
    Lunar White controller
has been available for sale for a little under a year. the receipt is necessary to provide proof of purchase as controllers are only covered by a 90 day warranty. Alternatively, I would suggest you register the controller at

devicesupport doing so will give you more warranty info. The serial number is located on the box or under the batteries. Thanks!

Mister Cizl - As previously stated, I did not retain a copy of the receipt. Also, the link you provided is not valid, it takes me to a page that says "group not found". I imagine that's because MS's device support is NONEXISTENT, which is exactly why I
am in this predicament. I'd love to register my controller and get the warranty info, because I know, without a doubt, that it is covered under warranty. But hey, I don't have a receipt, so I'm ***. THANKS FOR NOTHING.
