    Xbox one controller USB issue

Hi, I have two Xbox one controllers, both wok perfectly when I try using them with a cable, but one won't let me update. It's working fine and when I try to update it says there's no controller connected. Any clue what the problem could be?

Also, neither controller works on pc. The light turns on, so they're getting power but the pc doesn't seem to notice them. Again, anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    :)

Controller disconnects even when attached with USB.

I have the same issue. Both wired and wireless controller disconnects with a 1TB XBOX one, started when the console was 2 1/2 months old. Sent it in for repair, came back with same issue. I have tried multiple new controllers, 5 different USB cables,
etc. Its a fundamental issue with some XBOX ones is my opinion. Perhaps the wireless logic is hanging off the USB internally, and the issue is not with the wireless or the usb cables or the controller, but with the USB hub inside the xbox one (on the motherboard).
Dunno. I like the original poster tried everything. Going to use the advanced repair next. After that? PS4, no sh*t. Controller issues are infuriating.

Q's about Xbox controller / batteries and recharging

If we place other brand AA rechargeable batteries (NiMh) in the xbox one controller (regular or elite) and if we connect the USB cable to the controller Will it recharge the batteries?

If there is no batteries in the controller and you connect controllers/usb cable to the Xbox or any other power source will the controller work as if it's a wired controller?

    Hi Avustilein,

I'd be happy to try and help today.

So is it just that one controller that does not seem to update or be recognized on the screen?

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest trying a complete
    power cycle.

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 5 minutes.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

For the PC, your PC should install drivers automatically once you plug them in via USB. Have you tried another USB cable by any chance?

This step by step guide goes over troubleshooting update issues with your controller you should check out: Xbox One Wireless Controller Help | Fix Your Xbox One Controller

We'll be looking forward to hearing from you!

    Controller sync issues- need help

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are having this problem.

Have you tried connecting the controller with a USB cable?

If you have a micro-USB cable or the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit, you can connect your controller by using the micro-USB cable and do without batteries.

Restarting your console and controller might correct the connection issue.

Yes, all Xbox One controllers work with all of the Xbox One consoles (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One All Digital Edition, Xbox One X)
