Xbox One Controller unresponsive

I was using my controller yesterday, and all of a sudden it just shut off. I've tried trading out batteries, plugging in the controller directly to the console, and power cycling the console. Nothing worked. Not even the white light in the center lights
up - completely unresponsive. The controller is less than a year old, but over the laughable 90 day warranty. I find it a bit worrisome. Is this how long Microsoft's products for their gaming system last? People from Support keep telling me to just buy another
controller, so that tells me this occurrence is completely normal if Microsoft isn't willing to replace an obviously defective product. I know Microsoft is always saying calls and emails are recorded for quality assurance. Well, how about I see some quality
assurance?

Unresponsive Xbox One Controller

Help! help my xbox one controller is connecting the lights are on and its plugged in because i don't use
batteries but its completely unresponsive everything doesn't work i turn on my xbox and it just stays on home-screen with all my friends sending my party invites and i cant accept them PLEASE HELP!

 

Xbox one stays on home page, controller unresponsive.

When I turn on the Xbox One with my controller, it stays on the home page and wont move. Controller is unresponsive, I cannot sign in, nor anything else.

It was working fine last night, with no apparent issues. Any ideas?

 

Are you sure you're putting the batteries in the right way? Even I make that mistake sometimes.

 

Yeah, doesn't work. Regardless of that, it should have worked with plugging the controller into the console. But it didn't.

I'm afraid if none of those steps help then a repair/replacement is going to be your best next option. If your controller is still in warranty you can request a repair over on our
Online Service Center.

 

I know I have to replace it myself. I know Microsoft won't replace something that's obviously defective if its older than 3 months old. I posted on here with a smidgen of hope that someone from Support would see I, and people in my situation or similar
posting here, are getting *** over and help out. But again, I'm told I have to buy another one. Like I'm sure many other people are told.

You know what the sad thing is? I'm going to replace the defective controller. And whatever else breaks without reason. Because in the end, I like the Xbox and gaming in general. And regardless of products that apparently aren't made to last, I want to continue
enjoying myself using these products. Again, like a lot of people. I just wish Microsoft would treat customers a little better.

I'm afraid if the controller is out of warranty I don't have any other options to provide. If you run into any issues with your new controllers definitely let us know, as we'd like to help resolve that as soon as possible.

Same problem as Wolfgang613 - I decided to update both my controllers as i could see they needed, that said before the firmware update all was working perfectly well. Guess what? I update my controllers to have both fail the update half way through. Now
im stuck with two controllers that wont turn on!! I appreciate peripherals have to endure knocks, bumps and such but offering a 90 day warranty is mental!!!! That's like unofficially saying we anticipate the product may fail shortly after!!!

Xbox support has been a complete mine field, you may as well toss a coin to anticipate when / how you will be dealt with. Originally contacted support via phone. On hold for 25 minutes only to be told to call back the next day. Very helpful. Contact chat
support..... Try it on another concole... again helpful. Get to the third time...... Sorry your pads are out of warranty. £85 to repair both!!!!! Love Xbox gaming in general. Massively let down by microsoft and xbox support.

3 consoles since release. 4 broken controllers through no wrong doing of my own, in fact Microsoft firmware.... ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!!!! SORT IT OUT XBOX!!!!
