Xbox One Controller Triggers Squeaking?

They have certain versions for various applications. It's a bit mixed in regards to original WD40. Some say it is fine with electronics others say it isn't recommended. From what I can find it can break down plastics and attract dust and dirt on door hinges.

 

At the end of the day its a liquid, if it comes in contact with the circuits its unlikely to end well, if you just lubricate the area needed it will be fine, any lubricant will do, veg oil dabbed on with a finger should do.

 

A small dab of antiseptic alcohol might do the trick.

 

Or place gum in between the plastic, so it won't rub together.

 

I watched a video that said if you blow into the trigger area it will stop squeaking for a while. Just tried it out of curiousity and it worked it stopped squeaking.

Yeah, maybe don't go spraying that into your controller haha...

 

WD40 has been used in the auto industry for years to spray on electrics when they suffer from failure due to moisture, it dispels the water and the auto electrics fire up nicely. Ive used it on all sorts of stuff over the years and never seen any fires
or degradation of plastic or rubber.....

I agree, WD-40 is great if there's moisture in the distibuter cap.

 

I've used it loads of things like bikes for example, just not sure I'd be comfortable using it in an Xbox controller haha

Haha, I'm assuming it's the metal spring causing the squeaking and not the plastic?

Annoyingly I just grabbed my Titanfall controller to squeak the trigger... And it's not squeaking, welcome back to the family again old friend!

 

At the end of the day it is your controller. If you wanna spray WD40 into the controller go right ahead. Obviously you would spray a small amount not drench the controller in it

 

Speaking of the all-in-one lubricant. I used it this morning on a door lock, that got moisture in it from the rain and was starting to develop rust and preventing keys from going in. Probably solved. Key goes in like butter now.

 

You wouldn't have to spray it onto the controller itself, just spray on a cotton bud and apply it that way.
