Xbox One Controller - Transition from PC to Console

    All,

While using the Xbox app on windows 10 with the controller connected to the PC via a USB cable, I can stream, play, control, etc. the console from the PC. No issues here.

When I then close the Xbox app and disconnect the controller from the PC, the Xbox button on the controller flashes and won't sync up with the console. I have to manually hit the sync buttons on the console and the controller to get it to reconnect. Even
if I hold the Xbox button on the controller for 5 seconds to turn it off, then turn it back on, it does connect automatically. I have to use the sync method.

Note: I do not have to power down the console to reconnect, simply use the sync-button method as described above.

Is there a way I can more seamlessly transition the controller between the PC and console without having to resync them? This is a inconvenience for my situation.

    Thanks.

    :)

Windows Xbox Application stops responding to Xbox One controller

I am running the Xbox Application on Windows 10. The xbox controller is connected via USB cable to my PC. The PC sees the controller connected. the Xbox Application sees the controller. When I stream a game, or even just browse the home screen, the controller
may stop responding. In a game, this usually happens during an in game transition, like changing maps, or going from cut scene to game play. Unplugging the controller, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in will often correct the issue.

I have read multiple forum posts regarding similar issues. Sometimes the controller was not detected by the Xbox Application at all, sometimes it was. I tried multiple driver versions, reinstalling drivers from the web site, moving the USB from a hub to
the PC directly. Seems that the application stops accepting input from the controller during certain game or console transitions. Once when unplugging the controller and plugging it back in, the PC gave an error message that the USB device malfunctioned and
could not be used. Rebooting the PC seemed to solve that issue, after multiple attempts to disconnect and reconnect via USB would give the same error.

When the Xbox Application streaming works, it works pretty well. Problem seems to be solely in the controller drivers and how that input is passed back to the Xbox one.

  3. Paired xbox one wireless controller to Xbox console, want to pair that to my windows 10

    Hi Microsoft,

So I have an Xbox One S with two wireless Xbox One Controllers already paired to it. But I recently got a Windows 10 PC and I want to pair one of the controllers to my PC. But I don't how to do that. When I turn my controller on, with a usb connected from
the controller to the pc, my Xbox console turns on. How do I pair my wireless controller, that is already paired with my console, to the PC? Do I have to disconnect the controller from the console (and if so, why)? Please answer this for me and thank you Microsoft.
    Have a good day guys.

No. It'll have to be resynced to the console after use on the PC every time.

Is there any documentation or other forums where Microsoft specifically states this is the only way? I think it seems a little crazy that this is the only way.

I'm not sure if there is specifically, I'd have to look, but basically you can't have the controller synced to 2 different devices at the same time. So when you use it on the PC, it is synced up to be used for that. So when you go back to the console, you
have to resync it for use on the console. I started using a separate controller for each instead of having to resync every time.

Found it. Connect Xbox Wireless Controller to Windows PC | Xbox One Accessories

    Notes

    • If the controller doesn't respond, try a different micro-USB cable.
    • To use your Xbox Wireless Controller with your console after using it with a PC, you must re-sync the controller to the console. You can do this by using the wireless sync button or a USB cable. For details, see Connect
a wireless Xbox One controller to your console
      .
    • This information applies only to Xbox One Wireless Controllers. For help with other gamepads or joysticks or for information on configuring a specific game so that you can play it with a controller, refer to the manufacturer’s website.

Xbox One Controller - Transition from PC to Console

    Thanks Smwutches,

And just in case this thread helps others out, I determined that I would just leave my controller connected directly to the console even while streaming with the Xbox app on PC. I originally though that it was required for me to connect the controller directly
to the PC to stream and place games in the Xbox app, but it IS NOT required.

I guess we'll see what happens once I start messing around with Steam to see if it screws this up.

Also Just as a note, I am using a Surface Pro 3, genuine Xbox One S controller and the USB cable the comes with the genuine Xbox One play and charge kit.

    Thanks again
