Xbox One Controller Sync Problem (Fix)

Ok so I was having the same problem as meny of you were. My controller would sync then unsync. I was stuck in a never ending cycle of sync problems. I tried everything, replacing batterys, Moving closer to the console, even moving my console to another room.
Replacing the controller...everything.I figured my Xbox was defective. I was ready to give up and buy another console.

So how did I fix it.... well after reading up on how the controllers work. That's when I noticed that the controllers use wifi to stay connected to the xbox one.

I was using a ethernet cable (cat 5) wire to connect my Xbox to the Internet. So I unplugged that and setup the wifi through the xbox one menu. Not sure if it was going to do anything but guess what.... I no longer have sync issues. My controllers
connect now with no problems.

So that's how I fixed my problem. But not sure if that'll work for everyone but worth a shot if your using the ethernet cable to connect your Xbox one and having sync issues.

Also I use Verizon fios for internet. The router/modem they gave me allows me to transmit at 5ghz to my connected devices. Now I use the 5ghz to connect all my phones, tablets, etc. But used the standard connection (2.5ghz?) To connect my Xbox one.

Xbox one controller will not sync.

My xbox one controller will not sync what so ever. I have held down the sync button and it blinks really quickly, then shuts off. Any fix?

Xbox One Controller Sync Fix

This is a fix I discovered that is not included in the Xbox Support Article, "Troubleshoot your Xbox One Wireless Controller". Sometimes using
a power-strip to power your Xbox One can cause the wireless-controller NOT to sync with the Xbox One. A potential fix for this issue is to just plug the Xbox One console directly into the wall power-outlet and don't use a power-strip. Once the Xbox One is
plugged directly into the wall you should be able to now sync your wireless-controller. This fix should be added to Microsoft Support but until then hopefully people will find my article.

PS: The Xbox One (any version) has a built in surge protector, so the use of a power strip is not only unnecessary but can cause general console performance issues (like speed, Bluetooth sync) due to voltage throttling and interference.

Try to update your controllers via plugin them in with the usb cable to your xbox and than go to the update menu and look for controler update click it to check (even if there is no update this fixes sync problems with your controller)

I try to get the upadte for my xbox one controllers. But there no update for it.

I had this problem before but I got it working after a while. Try turning off your console and turning it back on. Then, press the 2 sync buttons, one is on the controller and one is on the console itself, at the same time. If that don't work, turn off the
console again and turn it back on and try to press each sync button in a different combination. Hope this fixes your controller problem.

Make sure to press the connect/sync button on the console and then within 20 seconds press and hold the connect/sync button on the controller. Ensure that the controller is within a few feet of the Xbox 360 you are trying to connect to. If that doesn't
work, try and change batteries, using a different controller battery pack, or try a rechargeable battery pack (if you have one). Please let us know if this fixes your problem.

Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.

This solution worked. Thank you!

For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.
