    Xbox One controller suddenly not working


    So I've had my Xbox One controller since Xmas, connected to my pc with a micro USB. It's worked fine. Always has since day one. Earlier today, however, it stopped working out of the blue. And by out of the blue, I mean I was playing a game on the controller
    via Steam, walked away from my desk for about 5 minutes, came back and it had stopped working. I hadn't touched it. I hadn't done ANYTHING to it.

    It just stopped working. It turns on when I press the "home" button, in as much as it flashes at me, but that's it. And no, I don't own an Xbox One, so it hasn't synched to that or anything like that.

    I then found out about the latest Windows 10 update, so I did that, hoping that would fix the problem. Nope.

    I thought it might need an update, so I went to Device Manager to see if it was listed. Nope.

    I thought it might need new batteries (even though it's wired) so I put some new ones in. Nope.

    So I deleted the driver (which, oddly, was for an Xbox 360 controller) and reinstalled them. Nope.

    I downloaded the Xbox Accessories app. Nope.

    I put it in different USB slots (which I know 100% work). Nope.

    I unplugged it, pressed the "home" button, then plugged it back in. Nope.

    I swore at it. A lot. Nope.

    It literally stopped working for no conceivable reason. I've only ever connected it via micro USB. No, I'm not going to buy an adapter for it, and no, I'm not going to try via Bluetooth. It worked 5 hours ago, and then it stopped connecting to the PC. Has
    anyone else experienced this? I'm at my wits end with it, considering everything I've read online suggests that a) Windows 10 comes pre-installed with the relevant drivers and they update automatically and b) Xbox One controllers are plug-and-play, so you
    don't have to download anything for it anyway.

    Xbox one controller suddenly not working?

    Throw rocks at it.

    Side note - my phone now auto fills "throw rocks at it" in that order, I like when electronic devices get to know me on a personal level.

    yes that is right no controller is working on the console. this problem started suddenly one night I was playing normally, next morning, the controller lost connection and the Xbox console sync button did not work.

    I've attached a couple of links below which may help. Check to see if your controller needs updated first, and then move on with troubleshooting. If it is updated and was previously working, your controller may need to be repaired or replaced. If it is

    Controller firmware update for headset adapter

    I have not validated the version of firmware, but I know it suddenly stops working. To update it, I plug the controller in and update firmware. I do this for both controllers. Then it will work for a couple of weeks and suddenly stop.
