    XBox One Controller stuck in DFU Mode


    I've attempted to update my XBox One firmware using XBox Accessories app. The update never started and remained stuck at 0%. After about 1hr of waiting, I decided to finally unplug my controller, which is now of course stuck in DFU Mode. After looking up
    online, I've seen 3 possible ways of solving this problem.

    The first one is to connect the controller to an actual XBox One. Unfortunately, I don't have one available, and neither to the video game stores in my city.

    The second one is to use VirtualBox to create a Virtual Machine using Windows 10 1511, on which it is apparently possible to resume the firmware update. Unfortunately, I am struggling with USB passthrough on VirtualBox, and I have yet to manage to get the
    virtual machine to detect the controller.

    Finally, there was apparently one update to the XBox accessories app (Version 100.1512.2007) allowing to solve precisely this kind of problem. I am currently suing
    the Windows Accessories app Version 300.1908.28002.0, which should therefore also allow to resume the firmware update, but the app is entirely devoid of any option, and I can't find how to make it resume my firmware update.

    If anyone has a solution which might help me, it would be greatly appreciated Cheers !

    Xbox 360 Elite controller stopped working on PC since last W10 update?

    DFU mode is available for the first xbox one controllers, the ones without the headphone jack. All other controllers post that including the Elite controller don't use USB DFU(Device Firmware Upgrade) mode for firmware update.

    The first thing would be to try and see if a firmware update is available via the Xbox Accessories app on the store, and if that fixes the issue for you.

    OK guys, I finally managed to get the Virtual Machine working (method is briefly described here : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ay-stuck/76c94c49-2565-4e9b-a261-b60a711af018).
    So now, my controller is up and running again.

    I just baffles my mind that the Xbox Accessories app brickwalls controllers the way it currently does, and that the only version of the app able to fix the issue dates from 2016 (even worse, up to date versions of the app cannot fix the issue). That is truly
    bad design, especially considering the effort Microsoft is currently doing towards PC gamers.

    Hello Verinen,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue with updating your controller. The easiest way would be to use a console. You don't have any friends, family, neighbors with an Xbox console? With it stuck like it is when you connect to the PC it will not
    detect it at all. Try powering off the PC with the controller plugged in. Then power it back on see if it recognizes the controller after reboot.
