    Hey guys,

    It's exactly like the title states. Yesterday, I was playing some Forza Horizon 5 on my computer when it somehow crashed. It wouldn't start anymore so I fired up my old dusty first gen Xbox One to play Forza on there. When I launched the Xbox and connected my controller, it said it needed to update the controller, which I did, and the process went fine. I started playing Forza Horizon 5 on my Xbox One with no issues whatsoever. Fast forward next day, I tried playing Forza again on my computer, which actually worked this time, but when I connected my controller to my computer (which went fine by the way) It didn't work, AT ALL. It said the following every time I pushed any button on the controller: CONTROLLER DISCONNECTED: Please reconnect a controller. Which was weird, since it was connected? And I couldn't press anything at all on the controller. It just keeps showing that message when I press a button. It deffo knows the controller is connected though, since the message pops up whenever I press something on the controller, not any other time. It just displays that once I press anything.

    Keep in mind, this was AFTER I updated the controller. I confirmed the update was the issue after I grabbed my brothers controller which worked fine wirelessly. But when I updated the controller on my Xbox, well what do you know, same issue!.

    The only time the controller works like it's supposed to is when it's using an USB cable directly plugged into the computer.

    Funny thing is, it works fine on my Xbox One, wirelessly or wired, doesn't matter.

    I've tried resetting the controller by power cycling my console and by holding the sync button long enough until it vibrates hard twice.

    Please, PLEASE someone help me out here. I've tried so many troubleshooting options but nothing is helping!!! And since I can't roll back the update on the controller, I'm basically stuck to wired.

    PC is running on Windows 10 Pro version 21H1

    Bluetooth is built into my mobo, running Bluetooth version 5.0

    Controllers are original Xbox One controllers

    Xbox one controller not connecting to Xbox Wireless Adapter for win10

    Summary: I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

    Longer description: I installed fresh windows 10, downloaded and installed all win updates, then I tried all these steps and at the end controller started working.

    1) plugged wireless adapter into USB windows 10 recognized it but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    2) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    3) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port started task manager removed Xbox one adapter, windows found it again but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    4) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port (front) started task manager removed Xbox one adapter and Xbox drivers, windows found it again installed it but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    5) FINALLY, I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

    Xbox Series X Sync button/synced controller stopped. Sync button must work as I am able to get to BIOS. Sync button wont blink.

    Thanks for the reply. Interesting, I did not know that it was "wirelessly" connected while connected to a USB C Data Cord. As soon as I unplug, it stays disconnected (in sync mode the controller also keeps blinking then turns off). If this is right I don't know why I also can't sync any of my other Xbox controllers to the series X unless connected with a cord (works on an One X controller also, stops when unplugged). I don't know why the sync button (blinking) stopped operating all together.

    I replaced my batteries and tried to pull and place back in earlier with no luck. I also updated the controller as I set up as new.

    The interesting thing is I am able to use the series X controller perfectly on PC wirelessly with windows 10/Xbox PC adapter. I have no problems on PC wireless.

    Xbox Elite Series 2 different drivers?

    I don't have an xbox. I was able to work around the issue by buying the "wireless adapter for windows 10" dongle accessory. Still annoying to have to buy either a $25 accessory or an xbox in order to get the controller to work wirelessly when both the controller and my PC have built in Bluetooth.

    How Do I Connect A Wireless Xbox One Controller To Windows 10?

    That receiver is only for the 360 controllers. If your windows 10 pc has bluetooth (which most do nowadays) and the controller is the newer type, it will be able to connect to your pc wirelessly :)
