Xbox One controller stops responding on PC and requires a restart to work again.

Just as the title says. This problem has been happening for months now. If I have my controller connected to my PC regardless of if I'm actually using it or not, the controller will become unresponsive. The light will stay on, but the buttons don't do anything.
I tried taking out the batteries and connecting it again but with the same results. I've tried re-syncing the controller, but the controller will not connect until I restart my computer. I've tried re-installing the driver, but that doesn't work either. I'm
using the wireless controller adapter.

Have you tried using the adapter in a different usb?. It sounds like there is some interfering causing it to disconnect.

are you using a bluetooth adapter, bt built in or a usb cable?

Not much you can do but restart the PC. Have you tried a cold boot my completely shutting the PC down and then restarting it.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue trying to use your controller with your PC wirelessly.

I would say that if you haven't already, try the steps outlined in
Troubleshoot the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and make sure your adapter is working properly.

Does your controller connect and is recognized by the controller with a USB?

If you can, try that out and let us know if those steps help out.

By any chance is your Xbox Console on at the same time? The controller might have automatically synced to it.
