Xbox One Controller Specifications

I was wondering what the expansion port on the bottom of the Xbox One Wireless controller was. Is it a mini-HDMI port or an odd type of USB. Or is it a custom port only used by Microsoft?

I wanted to know so that I could use the information to create an adapter capable of changing the expansion port to a standard female USB 2.0 connection.

When the original Xbox One launched there was no 3.5mm port for headsets. This jack port wasn't added until 2015. So before that this port was used with Xbox One specific headsets or you could purchase a headset adapter to use for your headsets that required
a 3.5mm jack.

Nowadays it's used with the chatpad and some headsets still use it. But the 3.5mm jack is still what most people use.

As far as I know it is a Microsoft exclusive expansion port only used for chat pads and the stereo headset adapter.

3rd party controllers don't look specifically like Xbox One controllers. Why do you think yours is not genuine?

i was under the impression that the controller update adjusted the sensitivity too.

Hello Juan,

Thank you for your post. The Xbox One only accepts input from Xbox One specific controllers, therefore an Xbox 360 controller would not function on an Xbox One.
