Xbox One Controller Slow Right Turn

After about 9 months of no problems whatsoever, I am now experiencing a slow right turn on my controller. I have experienced this on at least Overwatch and Witcher so far and although I am experiencing this almost every time I try to turn right, it is not
in a consistent manner or even a consistent speed (varying degrees of slow, sometimes not moving at all). It's frustrating that this issue has rendered most of my games unplayable.

I have seen this problem come up a lot in other forums, however there is no consensus as to whether this is a hardware or software issue. There have been some saying that it is to do with the controller faceplate restricting the thumbstick movement however
this doesn't explain why my controller has been fine until 2 days ago. I really don't want to have to buy a new controller after having it for just under a year so any advice or explanation would be appreciated.

When using the settings right stick "delay" max setting (To the right) in the accessories app and in game (overwatch) max sensitivity (10, 10) and exponential ramp, I experience a slow right turn (Rotating the character if not clear) compared to the left
turning most of the time (Seems random). Is there anything I can do?? I really like this setting but the slow right turning really throws every off.

Update: Just tried Rainbow Six Siege and when pushing right on the thumbstick, my aim either doesn't move at all or turns left.
