xbox one controller rubber/silicone pad breaking

since getting my xbox one, I have had 2 controllers where the little piece of the silicone/rubber pad underneath the A button (the part that has the little black piece in it) came off of the rest of it. before having opened up the controller both times,
the A button had gotten a bit sticky/squishy when pressing it. Is the breaking of the pad a common issue? Either a whole new silicon/rubber pad will have to be bought or a whole new controller. My controllers don't get abused or thrown around or anything.
unless the A button area of the pad is being pressed a bit too hard or spammed sometimes, I don't understand how it has been broken so easily, twice.

    :)

[Allergy] Are the analog sticks on the original Xbox controllers coated with rubber?

@QuickMythril, I meant the 360, though I must admit to having never played an Xbox so my knowledge of the consol'es timeline is sketchy at best. It's the one with the 4 dots. I bought the first one ages ago, so in my naivety I assumed it was from the original
Xbox; I'm pretty sure the new controllers are different xbox one controller rubber/silicone pad breaking :)

Given that the information on what the sticks are coated with appears to be a trade secret, I've gone and ordered some silicon grip pads. At least then I can be sure I'm not touching rubber. Thanks for the tip!

Still, if anyone actually knows whether the tips contain natural rubber, I would love to know. The only information I found was that the tips were "rubberised", which ought to mean coated/treated with natural rubber. There is however a lot of confusion with
different materials sometimes being called rubber and it appears that there are a number of people for whom "rubberised" doesn't mean it needs to contain any tree sap. Google muddies the waters even more by returning hits for "rubber" when you search for "silicone".
Very frustrating xbox one controller rubber/silicone pad breaking :)

xbox one controller rubber/silicone pad breaking

I personally have not had this issue, loose rubber/sticking buttons. I have had 3 controllers since day one and they all work as advertised even the crappy day one controller. This may sound odd but maybe it's something on your hands like a lotion or some
other petroleum based product that don't agree with the rubber.

    FAVORITE CONTROLLER

for the xbox one it would be my elite controller love the weight and the rubberized grips, for the 360 was the controller that the d-pad spun from a d-pad to a disc I don't really play any other consoles so lol

Grip in Xbox One Elite Controller Falling Off

I have had my Elite Controller for almost three years, and use it daily. And no rubber grips or bumper buttons came off.

The same is true for the Elite controllers of two of my friends. Also, compared to how many Elite Controllers were sold, and how "few" people complain about these issues, I don't think it's a manufacturing issue.

However, what I imagine is, since the rubber grips add more grip and friction, I sometimes see my guests (especially new players) gripping the controllers harder than necessary, and twisting their hands around the grip, as if they were twisting a motorbike
throttle. This is not an issue for the "slippery" plastic-only controllers.

But since the rubber grips make the Elite less slippery, the added friction makes the pads stick to the hand more, and if you also (subconsciously) twist your hand like some of my guests, there is nothing physically able to keep the rubber pads in place,
no matter how expensive the controller is.

Also consider this: When you wrap your fingers around the rubber pads, and then tighten the grip, the fleshy part on the inside of your fingers get "thicker". The added "padding" on the fingers makes the palm of the hand move "downwards" just a little bit,
and if you grip the controller tightly, the downward movement scrapes and rubs down on the pad. The tighter you hold the controller, the stronger the pulling force is on the pad.

So in my opinion, it's not a manufacturing issue, but more a way how "engaged" players can get in a heated match, which causes them to grip and squeeze the controller unnecessarily hard, which causes the pad to come off.
You guys are lucky. Every single person I know in real life that has an Elite controller has had them fail or break within a year. In my opinion, it's one of the worst consumer products in the last decade in regards to build quality.
