Xbox one controller right stick drift

The right stick drifts extremely bad and renders quick gameplay impossible. I attempted to register the controller on the xbox replacement site but it asks for the serial number of the controller, which is not labeled on the controller, I searched many sites
and forums for its location and didn't find it. The controller is in perfect condition except for the drift, updating the controller did nothing. The controller is used as a secondary for splitscreen. Please help.

i have this problem too and alot of folks with me. I think that microsoft have to do something bout it. If i'm not mistaken it's a software problem so it must be easy to fix. I tried the solution microsoft offered thats the maually shutdown the console unplug
it wait for five minutes plug it in and update the controller. Nah thats not it, i think that they need to clear the controller from all the updates but that seems impossible so if there's anyone with a solution. Would be helpfull coz buying another controller
again and again is not really a (fair) option. Maybe microsoft is reading this mssg too and comes with a solution, would be great. thnx in advance

 

How old is the controller? Accessories only have a 90 day warranty so if the controller is older than that then registering it wouldn't work anyway.

 

The controller is older than 90 days I'm pretty sure but it is brand new looking, barely used at all.

Even if I knew I wouldn't be able to say as discussions of self repair of the console or hardware is forbidden on the forums.

 

You can still request a repair for your accessories after the 90day warranty has been exceeded, however you'll have to pay for shipping and repair.

In most cases the cost of this will be slightly less or equal to buying a new one so like onyx62is mentioned, you're better off purchasing a new one

 

Its not right that these drift threads keep getting locked, it is an issue that many of us are dealing with. Mr. Quimby your solution does not work, please do not lock this thread as there is no need to lock it. I get that it doesn't look good on ms behalf
but this is a forum where us, the people who have spent their hard earned cash should be able to communicate and know that they are not alone in their struggle.

It is appalling that the solution for this issue is to buy another controller, another controller where you'll have only a 90 day warranty, that's another $65.

Fwiw, I love my x1 but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Not just the way ms is treating us but also the way the mods are trying their best to keep this contained and under the rug....so not cool!

The reasons threads about stick drift get locked in the support forums is because they tend to turn into megathreads. These keep getting commented on and bump people with other issues away. I personally believe staff is more than aware of this but because
it's a mechanical issue and not a software one which can be patched there is no other solution than to send it back to repair or purchase a new one.

These threads need to turn into mega threads so that people like me who paid $65 for a backup controller which has seen no more than 20-30 hours of play over 6 months can get their controller fixed. When a thread gets locked it stops momentum, this drift
issue isn't a user issue it is clearly a manufacturer defect. More people need to complain, if it weren't for these threads I wouldn't have even known about this issue. I tried everything, new batteries, update, reconnecting my controller and not a thing would
stop this. Ive broken controllers in the past and have replaced them no problem, but it was me that broke them. I didn't do anything to this controller, thats what gets me....I rarely even touch it. To pay $65 and not even have a year long warranty is pretty
darn shady imho.

A controller should be able to take a year's worth of hardcore playing, let alone six months. The issue isn't even getting addressed by ms, what we need is power of numbers and when people see that there are others going through what they are going through
threads like this are what it takes for them to come forward and say something. How many people have just coughed up another $65 just because they didn't know of this issue? I happen to talk with a friend of mine and he let me know what this drift issue was
and referred me to youtube videos....this drift issue is prevalent.

The act of ignorance is the biggest slap in ones face. Even if I don't get my controller repaired, if this can help people down the line I'm ok with that but the way these companies treat their customers is unacceptable. Things need to change and for things
to change people need to speak up. the purpose of a moderator is to clean up, if he/she sees a post that isn't relevant then delete it but these drift threads should not be locked!.

 

You can always vote on the Xbox Feedback website, things posted on there do make a change. This one is asking to recalibrate the sticks which could potentionally be a fix
