Xbox One controller recognized but not doing anything.

I purchased a new computer and went to plug the Xbox One controller in and it recognizes it and it says it's connected with no problems but the controller does nothing. I tried reinstalling it, trying a different
plug, going into control panel and looking up device manager. Someone had even given me a website with stuff to try but nothing I did worked. I tried running Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter but didn't find the option the website suggested, also tried
updating the Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator Driver manually, but there was no enumerator driver on the list. I'm at a loss and I would like to use my controller. How do I fix this?

Still having trouble with this

With the controller plugged in I opened the joy.cpl and there is nothing shown. The cable I'm using is the one that came with the controller, it works because on my old pc it worked fine. I did try different cables and the same thing happened, there was
nothing in the joy.cpl

Hi,

With the controller plugged in, hold down the Windows Key and tap
R. In the run box type joy.cpl and press enter. Does it show an Xbox One controller?

What kind of cable are you using? While most USB to micro USB cables should work, some are only meant for charging and not data transfer.

I fixed it. Dont know why but I had it on a USB hub and it wasn't working on it so I directly plugged it into my computer and it works fine. Not sure why this made a difference, my old computer had it connected to the USB hub and worked fine so I dont
know.
