Discus and support xbox one controller range in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; so i bought a new controller two days ago and its basically doa and i contacted support so they are sending me a new one. i however am still curious...     so i bought a new controller two days ago and its basically doa and i contacted support so they are sending me a new one. i however am still curious about the issue and have been actively testing to see what could exactly be wrong with it. i played with
    it two days no issue then today it just wouldnt stay connected to my xbox but my 3 yr old controller had no issues. it would connect for a bit then randomly disconect. eventually i discovered that its max range seemed to be set by how far i was from console
    when i took batteries out and put em back in turning on the controller. tested at multiple ranges and as soon as i moved about a foot or so back from initial postion it disconnects. while this issue is basically solved because warranty took care of it and
    im getting a new one but does anyone know what this could be caused by? i think id be cool to be able to fix a controller that support said was junk. not looking to spend any money just a small hobby to occupy some time until new one arrives in mail. thanks

    As other controller can connect to your console without any trouble, it only means that you got a faulty controller.

    This cases do happens, but rarely.

    It might be "passive interference" that causes your controller to disconnect, if you move even so slightly as a few centimeters.

    Depending on the material used to build the house or your room with the console, metal material might cause your controller signal to be reflected, and overlapping waves from the reflection might cancel out the signal in certain spots.

    Spotty connectivity could be a result of batteries that are dying. That said it could be a result of faulty hardware. I would say grab your receipt and return it to the store.
