Xbox One Controller - Quality Issues

I was recommended to bring my concerns here by Microsoft’s virtual assistant and I really hope that someone who deals with customer retention/ hardware quality reads this.

Let me provide a story about Xbox Controller issues...

I sit here looking at a graveyard of broken Xbox controllers while I type this out. None of them were misused but all of them have fallen apart or no longer work as expected.

Two of the three controllers started to fail within 1-2 months after their warrenty expired (how convenient).

    • The first controller was the Xbox Pro controller (first model). Rubber grip on the left side falling off (likely poor adhesive), stick drift, and charging port would not hold the cable any longer making my rechargable battery obselete. This all happened within 30 days of the 12 month warranty expiring. $100+ for a controller that works for ~12 months. Called customer support to see if I could at least have a repair work done for no charge. I wasnt asking for a new controller as I understand that’s not how a business works. I was essentially told there was jothing they could do other than possibly provide a discount on a replacement controller. Not cool.

    • The second controller to fall apart was the original controller that came with my Xbox One. This one lasted the longest (years after warranty), but fell apart when the left joystick literally snapped, as in the left joystick now swirls around loosely on it’s own. It no longer goes back to middle/ default position. This one I am not bitter about because it lasted as long as a controller should at a minimum.

    • The third controller to fall apart was my most recent purchase in October 2020. The right bumper is no longer fully responsive just 5 months after purchase. With the standard warranty being 90 days, I just spent $50-$60 for a controller to not even last HALF OF A YEAR before malfunctioning.

$50-$60 for a product that malfunctions 6-12 months when they should reasonably last a couple years or more.

    Here’s my question:

What is being done for situations like this? I have been told twice now by Xbox reps to buy a replacement. This is not an acceptable answer.

I can’t even trust that the next controller I purchase will last even a year at this rate.

    :)

why are xbox one controllers so faulty and wear out fast and unreliable compared to other xbox controller generatioms

I have 5 controllers for the xbox one. None of them had any issues so far. So for me it is not a Bad quality for the controllers.

Sorry to hear that you have that issues with your controllers...

Xbox one x no signal help

HDMI failure is common on Xbox One X. This is probably your issue right now.

Microsoft has absolutely no quality control

Microsoft should improve their Xbox One Controllers via quality

I must be one of the few folks to not have issues with my Xbox One Controllers. I'm going to say this and upon posting this they will likely crumble in to pieces!!

Jokes aside, I haven't had any issues, but my nephews do get through a fair few of the controllers. I hope the successor is of a more robust build quality. One thing I don't like with the Xbox One controller is that the analogue sticks don't have the same
stiffness as the 360, which was nigh on perfect in my opinion.

I will say, my PS1, PS2 and PS3 controllers were pretty flimsy with very loose analogue sticks also and build quality wasn't great. I can't comment on PS4 as I don't have one, but I hope they improve their build quality also.

Xbox series x no sound on controller

The Quality of Xbox controllers have went downhill. Nothing you can do about it. i've owned a Lot of Xbox controllers and they all seemingly have inputlag

or some form of issues like the buttons pressing twice. I suggest you just try and return it and pray that a quality one falls into your hands if they exist.

    Controller Build Quality

I think his issue is very clear. Anyone that has ever played xbox one knows that the build quality of the controller is terrible. It is probably the worst quality consumer product ever made. I have the same issue and i'm not a heavy gamer. I go through a
controller per month and microsoft refuses to fix the issue and the customer support is horrible. Someone should file a class action. The person who designed the controller should be fired.
