    Xbox One controller (Power A)

I’ve been searching around the internet for a while now and I haven’t heard mention of this problem so I thought I’d ask in case I’m missing a simple fix to the problem that someone might shed some light on. Has anyone else run into an issue where your holding down the left trigger and the controller mistakes it for the right. It seems the harder you press down the more likely it will function as the right trigger and if u press lightly it will as the left trigger. I thought this was strange so I spent about an hour in research and I can’t seem to find discussion of it anywhere. Any suggestions on what I could do to remedy the issue? So far I’ve tried restarting the Xbox, unplugging the controller, mapping the buttons as well as restoring them to default, Switching controllers (more so to see if it were a problem with the game I was playing...it was not), and lightly rattling the controller after hearing an object of unknown characteristic (possibly could be a loose screw but I’m not sure if that’s just a sound all controllers make).

    :)

Xbox One S Controller Does Not Turn On Console. Also, Controller Remains On After Turning Console Off

Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.
    This solution worked. Thank you!

For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.

Xbox One somehow controlling by itself...

    Hey there BigD0187!

Sorry to hear about the controller issue! I see that you mentioned you powered the Xbox One console off, but let's try doing a full power cycle to clear the system cache out. Once you power back on, try

    Syncing your Xbox One Controllers
    again. Follow the steps below:

    • Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds, or until the unit is fully powered off.
    • Unplug the power supply from the back of the Xbox One console and let it sit for 5 minutes.
    • Plug the power back in and power on.
    • Re-sync the Xbox One controllers to the console.
Follow each of the steps above and post back to let us know how it goes! :D

Hello! for controller troubleshooting follow this link : https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one/controllers/wireless-controller-solution

Or, If the controller might have been bricked and you have an Xbox One, you can try this method that has worked for some people including me:

    - Power down the Xbox One by holding the power-button down for 7 seconds (Until it powers off)

    - Unplug the Xbox One power-brick from the wall for 5 minutes, to be sure there everything is 100% discharged.

    - Plug the controller into one of the Xbox One USB ports. (preferably one of the back USB ports). Make sure nothing else is plugged in.

    - Try to turn on the Xbox using the controller's button. If it doesn't work, turn on the Xbox One using the console's power button.

    - While the Xbox One is booting up, try to turn on the controller by pressing the controller's Xbox button. (I tried about every 2 seconds)

The controller turned on after I hit the Xbox button the 3rd time for me while the console was booting up. If it turns on and works, head to the Xbox Accessories app on the console and it should be on the latest controller firmware.

Let us know if this worked for you :)

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

No, I haven't experienced this before. If you can hear a rattling sound from within the controller, then it may be something with the internal hardware and the controller will need to be serviced.

If it is still within warranty, you can request a repair/replacement here https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne...

    Hope this helps
