Xbox one controller on pc, is it draining the batteries? how do I turn it off?

I have my Xbox one controller hooked up to my pc with the cable and I have AA batteries in it. Does anyone know if I need to have the batteries in for it to work? I dont' want to take them out and risk messing up anything, it seems like microsoft isn't
really supporting pc users, how hard is it to make a wireless usb dongle? So I don't want to mess anything up. The xbox 360 controller would just turn off after a while of no use. Do I need to unplug my controller everytime I'm not using it? Also has anyone
heard if they are making a wireless usb dongle/receiver?

    :)

  2. Paired xbox one wireless controller to Xbox console, want to pair that to my windows 10

    Hi Microsoft,

So I have an Xbox One S with two wireless Xbox One Controllers already paired to it. But I recently got a Windows 10 PC and I want to pair one of the controllers to my PC. But I don't how to do that. When I turn my controller on, with a usb connected from
the controller to the pc, my Xbox console turns on. How do I pair my wireless controller, that is already paired with my console, to the PC? Do I have to disconnect the controller from the console (and if so, why)? Please answer this for me and thank you Microsoft.
    Have a good day guys.

Xbox One Controller connected to PC - how turn it off?

I've read online that the Xbox One controller normally shuts off by itself after 15 minutes of inactivity but the Xbox One guide button on the controller stays lit indefinitely when conntect to my pc. I'm using AA batteries, so I don't want to drain them,
is there anyway to shut off the controller other than disconnected it and taking out the batteries? Will it turn off after it is disconnected from the usb cable?

Also, has microsoft said anything about making a wireless dongle like the 360 for pc? Also does the plug and play kit work when you hook it up to your pc? And is there no gui for windows pc like the 360's little battery monitor?

You don't need the batteries in it.

I guess whether or not they make a usb dongle depends on the demand. To set up manufacturing etc would cost a fair amount, and unless there's a big enough demand that means they can manufacture enough to be able to sell it for a reasonable price then it
won't happen. And with all the third party pads and many will probably stick to a 360 pad until it no longer functions, I seriously doubt the demand is currently there.

Possibly in a year or so they may consider it, but I wouldn't believe it's guaranteed at some point.

You'd be better to believe it's never going to happen then if it does, it's a bonus!

Xbox controller turns off by itself if button is left pressed

Sounds to me like the controller is turning itself off. its a feature of the controller to prevent battery drain when the controller isn't being used.

    Rechargeable Batteries

Might be to high mAh rating. I'm using Energizer rechargeable 1400 mAh and have no problem except that a good day of gaming will drain those suckers to the point my controller is not registering my button hits correctly (course the inability to turn off
the vibrate is a main drain causing aspect). Try swapping one of the 2000 mAh rechargeable batteries with a regular AA (so you have 1 rechargeable and 1 regular battery in your controller) and see if you get the same results. If it doesn't turn off your controller
    then it's the mAh rating.

Elite Controller with Play & Charge Kit

Just to let everyone know, that after a few weeks of doing the following:

    • 15 minutes of use
    • Controller complains battery is low
    • Controller turns off
    • Turn back on controller
    • Repeat until controller will not turn on (battery drained)
    • Charge overnight

All of a sudden, it now seems to be working how it should. Will now go for a whole week without complaining and the battery charge level slowly decreased through time (unlike before where it would show full and then flat within 15 minutes, then go full again
when you turn it back on).

    How bizarre !!

Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

    XB1 Battery Life?

There are 2 rumble motors in the Xbox One controller which may be the reason that it drains batteries faster. I purchased the Energizer battery charger pack to keep my controllers charged and ready when I need them.
