Xbox one controller on PC ( configuration problems )

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to play games on my laptop with my xbox one controller, but when i go to configure it that buttons are numbered and not as they are on the controller.

A button reads as Button 1 for example. I can't for the life of me figure out the layout for it, I've tryed looking up a graph but i haven't been able to find one could someone help me out here?

Using Xbox controller for Windows PC gaming

I maybe VERY wrong but, A Xbox console contoller is different from an Xbox PC controller.

If you purchase an Xbox Pc Controller it will work with PC games that support the configuration.

A normal Console controller is not usable on a PC without the right cable and drivers.........

Elite Controller Configurations On PC

Hello. I am using my xbox elite controller on my windows 10 PC along with the xbox accessories app. I am able to save two configurations to my controller switch #1 & #2. However, I was wondering if it is possible at all to save more that just two configurations
within the xbox accessories app for me to switch over to later when I need another setup. I want to be able to create a third config and save it in the library where all of the other preset configs are located on the left side of the xbox accessories app which
currently contain presets for Forza, Gears, and Halo.

When i click "+ New Configuration" I am able to make my third config and save it which shows up correctly on the left side, and I am able to swap it with other configs but when I close and re-open the xbox accessories app the third config that was once in
the app on the left is now gone.

Is there a way to save a third configuration to the xbox accessories app without it disappearing later on?

Is this within a game? If so, this issue could be due to the specific game and whether they support the Xbox controllers.

If you try a game that states it supports the Xbox 360 controller, you should have better luck using the Xbox One controller and having an easier time configuring it.

If so, that makes it an issue with that particular game.

Like Maxen13, I would be interested to know what game/s you were having problems with using you Xbox One controller on your PC?

All the Xbox 360 controller compatible PC games should work fine with the One controller.

Thanks for keeping us updated with your reply. Since you have updated your PC to the latest Windows build, if you're having trouble

updating the Elite controller using the Xbox Accessories app, then there may be an issue with the app itself if it isn't allowing you to update the controller. You may wish to run the App troubleshooter to see if there may be something with the app itself
that requires a "fix". Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

In regard to configuring your Elite controller, you would need the Xbox Accessories app for that as well: Use the Xbox
Accessories app to configure your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller

If you continue to experience issues updating or configuring your Elite controller using your Windows 10 PC, then you may need to attempt to do so from a different PC or an Xbox One console.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. You can use the Xbox Accessories app to configure your Elite controller, or reset the configuration via a PC.

I dont have a pc but I'm gonna try to delete all configarations and reset to the original configuration

Hi Brendanhealey! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

If I understand correctly, you think that the app isn't working because after configuring the controller with the Pc app if you disconnect the controller, and you reconnect it to your Xbox the app doesn't sync that information

In this case the problem would be the controller, as the app don't have a synchronization with the cloud option for controllers mapping, the controller it's the one that saves that configuration and take it trough different devices
