Xbox One controller not working properly when laptop connected to monitor

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. It looks like the issue may be attributed to the Bluetooth connection to your laptop as you have speculated. We can determine this based on the troubleshooting that you have completed so far. You mentioned that
your video drivers are up to date. We recommend making sure that
Windows 10 is also up to date. If you do not see any updates available, we recommend uninstalling one or two of the important updates. Once you have completed this step, you can use the article that we provided to have your computer install the most recent
update. We will provide steps on how to uninstall an update. Be sure to let us know the results!

How to uninstall a Windows 10 update:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Update & security.
3. Click on Windows Update.
4. Click the Update history link.
5. On Update history, you can view which updates were installed successfully and which those that failed with a timestamp, which can help you pinpoint which update is causing the problem. Click the
   Uninstall updates link.
6. Microsoft hasn't moved everything to the Settings app, so you'll now be taken to the
   Uninstall an update page on Control Panel. Select the update and click the
   Uninstall button.
7. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall
8. Click Restart Now to reboot your computer and complete the task

Just tried it out with the USB cable connected, and the controller works perfectly when it's wired. So the issue appears to be Bluetooth related.

I haven't tried it via USB when it's connected to the TV, but I will give that a shot today. I have tried updating the Bluetooth drivers, but still have problems.

After posting yesterday I played around with it some more, and found the following:

- When connected to the AVR the controller works fine via Bluetooth for around 5 minutes or so, then starts to act up with the symptoms I mentioned above. It's almost like it's "buffering", like when your CPU usages is at 90+% and your system is sluggish
and slow to react.

- If I exit out of the game and re-start, or start a different game, it goes back to working fine for a few minutes then acts up.

The laptop I'm having trouble with is a HP Elitebook 8470p. On my Alienware 17R3 I have zero issues with the same controller connected to Bluetooth. (I have made sure to have the Bluetooth on the Alienware turned off when trying to use the controller on
the HP).

does this only happen when the controller is connected via Bluetooth or also when the controller is connected via USB cable?

If that is the case, then you might want to check if there are any updates for the Bluetooth options on that laptop.

Are you attempting to connect an xBox console or a controller?

If a console then it isn’t possible unless you have a HDMI in connection either on the laptop or a monitor - on a laptop the HDMI is just for connecting to an external monitor.

To connect a controller then connect either via Bluetooth or plug if wired plug in to a USB socket.
