Xbox One controller not working despite being connected

So, on the Xbox one, my wireless controller connects to the xbox (light stays on) but none of the buttons or control sticks work. Even when the controller is wired in it still does not work. Having the same problem with both controllers.

Tried resyncing does not work

Unplugging and replugging in the Xbox works but only lasts about ten minutes before it becomes unresponsive again.

Have checked updates for the controller and there is nothing

Have looked at the button configurations nothing

At this point, I am figuring it is an issue with the Xbox.

Have you tried to do a soft reset?

Hi Yale,

Awesome thanks for the update. We recommend to try a
soft factory reset. There could be some corrupt files causing this. When you do the reset, select reset and keep my games and apps. You will need to redownload your profile. You also will not lose any save data as it is saved to the cloud.

It is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, and the controller is seemingly connected as the light on the controller stays on however the console is not responding to any of the commands.

This has also been a very recent issue, the xbox is about three years old and this issue only arose yesterday.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue with the controller. Please make sure first, your console is plugged directly into the wall outlet. This can have a major effect on the console and everything the console does, if plugged into a surge protector
or ext. cord.

Is that the only thing the controller is doing is wont stay connected?
