    Xbox one controller not updating??


    ok, so i have literally done everything in the trouble shooting section. the ports are working, the cable is working as it will power the controller. i have power cycled the system but the controller still wont update. does anybody have any idea what could
    be wrong? im using astro a40's connected via optical port.

    Thing is, the adapter actually does work even without an update. but every time i plug it in it still asks me for one. anybody have any idea of how to solve this??

    So it's not a new xbox one controller, since 2016 with the xbox one s, the xbox controller has the Bluetooth connection. Btw, is your controller official ?

    New Xbox One X contoller

    The controller that came with my Xbox One X will not charge on my Onkyo charger. Apparently the dimensions are not the same as the original Xbox One controller. What controller does it compare to in dimensions?

    Did you remove the batteries, plug in the adapter AND headset and connect via USB?

    Is the console connected to the Internet?

    Do you get any particular error code or message when you are doing this?

    yep, followed step by step multiple times. and i am indeed connected to xb live when i try. it gives me a screen that says controller wont update. and there is a big green exclamation point but i dont see an error code at all. would that code come up on
    the error screen itself or is it something i would have to look up elsewhere?

    Not all errors produce codes, if it did it would have popped up on screen and you would have had to click it away.

    I'll see if I can find anything on this. Maybe another Ambassador/user will see this in the meantime and has something to add.

    Mine goes to 49% and goes back to 0% about five times till I get the error message; I use the play and charge kit with mine I tried taking it out still doesn't work not sure if using it makes a difference while updating.

    I'm having the same issue. Could this be due to the Xbox Live services being Limited?

    About updating controller, To use the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter with your Xbox One Console, you’ll need to update your Xbox One Controller with the latest software to support the Adapter.

    So Titanfall controller update is done by over air, no cable, (February update) and Stereo Headset Adapter controller update you need an cable, which comes with the adapter (March update).

    Update XBox controller support has steps to update the controller firmware.
    It did not say "Start update" or the update is available for xbox one controller.

    To ease this is a problem with the controller but there is a controller update coming to Xbox one. But first make sure you goto to settings Device & accessories and sign the controller to someone and click on update controller to the Xbox one. then accept
    the new update to fix this.
